If its Monk you could make the argument that the last two days with the signings of Bam and Monk and Beating Duke for fist time in 17 yrs would be the greatest two day regular season stretch in UK basketball history,

mj has hinted everything just short of coming right out and saying monk is announcing uk today.
Fox, Monk, Gabriel, Jones, Bam? That would be one hell of a recruiting class, with Willis, Humphries, and Wynyard returning. But unless one of Ulis/Murray/Briscoe came back, we'd need another guard. Would be nice to get BOTH Monk and Simmons.
Just a thought. If it is Monk this new crop of frosh will be an on-going background story on every national broadcast this season. Certainly it would mute the Duke # 1 class BS. Also, if Monk waits until after the season he and the rest of the incredible class would miss the benefit of almost a full year of hype. The branding and marketing benefits from being the final component of an in-coming all-star cast seems to far outweigh some minor cats calls back home during his final senior high school season.

If there's one thing I dislike about last year's team it's that people are convinced that we need 10 All Americans to have a complete team. Cal likes to play 7-8 guys, last year was a complete anomaly. With a class of Fox, Monk, Gabriel, SKJ, and Bam we have more than enough weapons with what we have returning. Sure it would be nice to have an über-talented dedicated backup PG but give me this lineup all day:
Fox-Hawkins
Monk-Matthews-Mulder
Gabriel-Matthews-Willis
SKJ-Wynyard
Bam-Humphries
I see Matthews as more of a SF type but he could give us good enough depth, I guess. Mulder may come around but he appears to be well behind out other guys now, and I don't see Hawkins as ever being much more than a spot player when we need a defensive spark orsomebody's in foul trouble or tired.
Yea... With the addition of Monk I would like our class to be set. Fox, Monk, and Gabriel with subs of Matthews, Willis, Mulder, and Hawkins will be more then a formidable back court.
It seems like the same people wanting Monk and Simmons will be the same people complaining that Willis isnt playing his senior season. Were load with Monk. Focus on 2017.

That's what I thought, but I guess he has a point that it is a pretty significant drop off, and that those guys still need to prove they deserve a lot of playing time on a good team. It's just funny people complain about our upperclassman not playing, but then demand these 4-6 player recruiting classes.
I think that's all we need. Wouldn't turn away another guard, but those three would provide plenty depth, imo.
The "Monk wanted to commit to Arkansas" quote is interesting... Hopefully there was nothing to that and it was just an Arkansas guy trying to save a little face.
Could this be their way of softening the blow for Ark fans by saying this.....meaning Monk wants UK.

I mean, I've got to believe a sophomore Matthews will be solid, maybe even formidable. He's decent now.
Mulder may or may not develop. If he does, that's a bonus.
We know what Hawkins can do. He played important minutes in the tournament as a freshman. Don't mind him as the 2nd or 3rd guard off the bench in the least.
And let's face it. Fox and Monk will play 30+ minutes each.
If we get Malik Monk because his brother helped steer him to UK, give the man an assistant coaching job for a year.
I don't think it's directly from Malik. Imo, Malik doesn't want Arky, but also doesn't want to disappoint the fans. I think it's Marcus biting the bullet for Malik, making himself out to be the reason Malik didn't choose Arky.
