Monk still most hated sports figure in Arkansas.

Arkansas fans are a joke. They still live in the "Rolling wit Nolan" days. That's was 22 years ago. They hate everything UK and our fans. Well done, Malik. They can't keep any top players in their state anymore. If they have a 5 star they will leave as long as Anderson is their coach. Total Thugs!!

Pathetic.

It would be like if Damien Harris was the most hated figure in Kentucky. But, MOST Kentucky fans are rational enough to understand Alabama football and UK football are on different levels just like UK basketball and Arkansas basketball are on different levels.

The Hog fans don't understand 1994 was a long ass time ago and won't be coming back anytime soon.

The headline:

Malik Monk: Your most hated person in Arkansas sports

A kid who went to the top program in the country instead of staying in-state with a .500 team? Or a football coach who crashed a motorcycle with a 25 year old former student athlete volleyball player he was banging on the side? If I were an Arky fan I'd probably hate Petrino more than Monk. Then again, if I were an Arky fan I'd probably hate myself more than either of them.

Thier fans have zero character on thier board. They don't care about anything but hatred and violence towards others.

What is real funny is that John L Smith, Bobby Pitrino, Houston Nutt, Ashley Judd, Calipari and Monk all have deep connections to the state of Ky.

Nutt coached at Murray St years ago, Smith and Pitrino both UL guys and the rest UK related

I'm sure he lays awake at night sitting on his iPad hitting refresh on his bank account as he watches his millions grow. And just when he was on the verge of donating money to his home state to study how impersonating a pig leads to overwhelming obesity amongst the Hog population. Shit your nest you ignorant sub human Cretans

While I'm sure it can't feel that great to be disliked by your home state fans, the NBA lottery money and endorsements money should go a long way with easing the pain some. Who knows what happens if Monk decided to stay home to play his college ball. Its easy to think the same results, but we all know sometimes that isn't the case. Monk knew he just couldn't risk his pro future on not playing for Cal at Kentucky. If the hate gets too bad, Monk knows he can always just move to Kentucky and be worshipped instead of hated.

All they do is prove to him that he made the right decision. I'm glad we can miss out on big players with out it actually hurting too bad because Cal will just get another star to make up for it. We have it made

Arkansas is a cheap, dirty team (and coaching staff) and their fans don't have any class. They also strangely think that every top player who grows up there is obligated to play for their has been trash program

I"ve lived in Texas for 33 years and have been exposed to a lot of Arkansas fans. When they joined the SEC it was obvious that the conference was getting another set of obnoxious, UK hating fans. Their fans are some of the most classless individuals you'll ever see and I really wish they would leave the conference, which unfortunately won't happen.

But, what is your opinion of Arkansas fans?

.
Him going to Alabama on its face isn't what made UK fans mad at Harris.

Be honest. If Marvin Bagley was from
Lexington and picked UL how would y'all feel about him? Think about the players you already talk bad about at UL now add the emotion of losing possibly the best player to ever come up in you're back yard AND he picks the team that you dispise. Now be honest about how you feel PLUS add that he dominates while at UL

I think in football it would be like Elam or Young picking UL

The other issue I have with the football /basketball comparison is that's apples and oranges. Cals system and strategy is designed toward NBA player development. Look at all the guys we have in the NBA. Monk came here for that express reason

Alabama is not a big presence in the NFL at a lot of positions. So they're good now--but they'll drop off. Especially after Saban leaves. Right now is simply a chance to be in the NC. If you're good , the NFL will find a Danny Trevathan or a Bud Dupree. I see more choices based on lots of other factors INCLUDING staying at home. I hope we continue getting the 5 star FB playerS from instate and Cal gets his NBA guys from Chicago, LA etc

There have to be some losers in Lexington...

Not positive but I don't think monk picked thier cross town rival?

Monk grew up in the small community of Lepanto, which is in the far eastern portion of Arkansas. The University of Arkansas is in the Northwest corner of the state. Monk's hometown is closer to Vandy and Ole Miss than it is to the University of Arkansas. If he wanted to stay home, he would have gone to Memphis, which is the closest program to Lepanto. Razorback fans claiming Monk abandoned the "home team" are ignorant.
