Hey guys. Not a ton of news this week but a few good tidbits so let's get to it.

Bolden: Last Monday I didn't feel great about Bolden, but this week that's not the case. Bolden is very interested in Kentucky, UK is interest in him and there's a chance he ends up a Wildcat.

Spoke with someone before the UK game on Saturday that told me something that's true. The Cats won't have a back to the basket big next season. Bam is good on the post, but he'd rather face up. Bam will get better but he'll never be Cousins or Towns type five. Bolden is that five so UK would love to pair him with Bam on the block.

The lineup he told me was Fox, Monk, Gabriel, Bam and Bolden and that's a very talented five, despite all being freshman.

One person told me that Bolden wanted to commit in the fall and sign with UK but Kentucky asked him to wait. Not sure if that's true but certainly momentum with Bolden and the Cats.

Allen: I was even told that things aren't finished between Allen and UK. If you remember, when Allen visited Kentucky I heard the visit went very well and at the time predicted Allen to end up at UK. Then Kentucky went a on signing spree landing Bam along with the guards so things cooled between Allen and Kentucky.

But was told that when Allen was visiting UK he and Calipari talked about who'd he like to play with and who he wouldn't like to play with and the conversation was really detailed. I now think Bolden is more likely but can't rule out Allen.

Alkins: He had 51 points this weekend and continues to show why he's one of the best guards in the class, but he won't be ending up at Kentucky. He mentions UK, he lists Kentucky, but the Cats aren't recruiting him and won't be recruiting him. Wherever he goes he will be fun to watch, my guess is NC State or St. John's, but it won't be Kentucky.

Maker: He also won't be going to Kentucky. Hearing it will be Kansas or Arizona State, or potentially not playing college basketball and just skipping a year. His guardian virtually gave the NCAA an ultimatum saying "If you don't clear Thon early we won't be playing college basketball." Bold strategy. He's good tho and hope we see him play college hoops.

Ayton: He won't be announcing a college decision for about 16 months but my guess is Kentucky will be in the running. He was fun to watch. Wish we would have seen a little more back to the basket but his ability to hit from outside, at his size, was scary to see.

Vanderbilt: He's really good, too, and like I said last week I just didn't get the vibe he was high on UK. I didn't talk to him this weekend but he did visit UK and am told he really enjoyed himself at the game. He would be a true three that Calipari would love to coach.
