MJ thoughts on Auburn win

I'm actually not sure if he would. I think he'd find himself on the bench with not a whole lot of opportunities, simply because you can't keep Reed and Dilly off the floor.

Or at least he shouldn't be in over them. I think Cason has talent, but he was one of those guys who didn't show much as a freshman and probably should have/could have come back for a year.
Who is better Cason or Wagner? That’s a tough call for me.

For every good play getting the ball to a teammate for a play he made 3 bone head errors whether TO, Ill advised shot, etc. He was a net negative. You’re right wheeler good at nothing else.

I mean he was a part of some of our best basketball over the last 4 years.. that nice stretch in January and February where we were shelling teams and we were the hottest team in the country. That fell apart when Grady and Ty got injured. But it's hard to say Wheeler wasn't at least doing his part during that time. He had some heady performances in big games against teams like Kansas and Tennessee.

Would we have been better with Wall or Fox in there, absolutely. But I don't put him on Askews level.

Close for sure. I'm hoping that DJ can continue to get better. We know Casons tenure here and it kind of came and went. DJ doesn't have to do much to pass Cason.
You mean the guy who set UK's assist record the 1st time he played PG?

I’ve missed a lot since I’ve been out in the middle of the ocean.

Very disappointing to hear Cal is acting like this. Not surprising whatsoever, but still disappointing.

His slappies act the same way. Win one game and they puff their chests. Embarrassing.

Quick thoughts: saw highlights of the game and Reeves was good…..again.

Thiero dunk….wow!

Let’s win a few in a row and nobody is gonna care about chest puffing.

Cason was solid?
I think he gets overlooked a bit because his team was so frustrating

Started 32 games for the Wildcats, averaging 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game … Ranked among the league leaders in assists per game (2nd), assist-to-turnover ratio (4th) and steals per game (4th) … Played 32.2 minutes per contest, second-most on the team … Totaled 18 double-figure scoring games, including four of 20-plus … Led Kentucky in assists a team-high 16 times and steals a team-best 19 times. Dished out a career-high 11 assists at Mississippi State … The 11 assists were the second-most in program history for a freshman in a true road game , three SEC Freshmen of the week honors, Tied a UK single-game record with eight steals against Michigan State

Cason was a much better player than DJ at this stage in their careers.

I’ve always believed this team has what it takes to get a final 4. They may inevitably fail like Cal’s teams have the last 5-6 years but I take it with a grain of salt. I hope this is a springboard to show the team what it takes to win games and it propels them to greatness. This week will show us where we are now headed a little bit.

I think it’ll pretty much be a miracle if the Cats win at LSU. That said, I really haven’t seen them play at all.

Do they have guards that can penetrate? Ark, Ole Miss, and AU didn’t and that’s UKs best defensive performances and imo the reason.

Cal is going to the slow down rock fight offense without a doubt.

The emotions in this game are hard to predict. Both teams coming off huge road wins

Cats owe Jordan Wright a loss.

Again, I’m not convinced the Cats have turned a corner. Hopefully I’m wrong but I have zero confidence in what Cal says or does.

Auburn was somewhat of a miracle, though we had an excellent gameplan and played outstanding defense the entire game - it was a win we deserved.

LSU wouldn’t be a miracle. Yes It’s a road game, which never come easy - but we are thoroughly better than LSU across the board. We should win.

"Fool me once Shame on you. Fool me Over and Over Shame on me " I am waiting to see the next few games before I get my hopes up of getting past first weekend of the NCAAs

The only way Kentucky wins at a championship level is somehow DJ and Edwards become true top level like they were supposed to be. Maybe Bradshaw too. Why? Because Cal is going to play them.
I think they both need to play. DJ is one of the best on-ball defenders we have, and something we sorely missed when he's been out. He's also able to run the point at times, allowing Reed to come off screens, or same with Dilly.

Edwards isn't anywhere near the offensive player we need him to be. Honestly, right now he's a lot more like Adou - does some good things that don't show up in the boxscore. He has length, he can rebound, he can knock down some shots, he can guard multiple positions. But to get better offensively, he has to work thru his struggles and has to find that "breakout" game to build on.

Bradshaw: as long as we're healthy, I don't think you'll see Cal playing him much. He just played Ugo 36 minutes. So when Tre Mitchell comes back, I think the 4 and 5 spots are locked down by Tre, Ugo, Adou, and Edwards.

I listened to him yesterday on this.

Here is the thing though - he is right - we always have one or two of these 'back against the wall' games where the fans are really doubting the programs chances and the players pull off what is considered an upset.

ok, not to be a continual debbie downer but those games always seem to serve as beacons of hope on an otherwise concerning trajectory, just in time to get people pumped that UK is built for March.

But you have to go back 10 years for that to happen. If past history is an indicator of future success, UK will have some bright spots, and a couple of low spots, do enough to get a bye in the SEC tournament but not enough to win it, get a 4 seed in the tourney and then end up losing a heartbreaker to a team they have no business losing to (think Kansas St).

I mean I hope I'm wrong but its Charlie Brown kicking the football territory here.
Think St. Petetrs!! or even worse 9-16....plenty of lows to choose from.
