This stuff isn't as simple or obvious as you (presumably) seem to believe.

Almost every time, you know the answer ahead of time and don't have to actually make a formal offer to know the answer. Agents, back channels, and so on. The casual fan is not going to know if Mitch was able to get an answer from Billy Donovan (or his people) before offering Scott Drew the job. Sorry if that hurts your ego or feelings.
