Mitch barnhart believes stoops can quickly turn things around

This is a great point

1. Brock
2. Dumas Johnson
3. Maclin
4. Mincey

So really on Dumas Johnson worked out. So why are they trying to sell this bag of BS as a way to work in the future. It’s clear as day Uk has major coaching issues
I was thinking of Chip and not Dumas . But yeah , Dumas is definitely in the top 4 in NIL pay but he earned his . So 4 outa 5 laid an egg

In 2009 Iowa was 11-2. In 2015 Iowa was 12-2. In the five years in between Iowa was 34-30. So it’s possible for a coach who has done it before to do it again after a down period. But Stoops has to get this offense fixed.

Don't go talking sense to people that never thought Stoops could get us to 8 straight bowls and 2 different 10 win seasons. These are all the same people that thought we would never end a losing streak against UF and start winning ones against others. They also never thought we could get the kind of recruiting classes we have been.

Now they think we will magically still get good classes and compete for the SEC Title with...
-some of the lowest NIL
-among the smallest recruiting footprint in the SEC
-and without a staff that has had great success in OH, MI, and elsewhere.

Suddenly we'd be Alabama or Texas! Lmao

If UK fans aren't btchin about FB they need to be checked for a pulse.

Not really

Needed Brock to implement new system and give Boley time to develop. (Will also be huge for Saunders if Boley is ready and develops even more for next season).

2. Dumas Johnson

Really really wish we had him one more year. Kids a player

3. Maclin

Maclin hasn't been the problem. He's not been used as he should until very recently. Again, I hope he stays another year.

4. Mincey

It's hard to say Mincey was a bust, with no one on the roster able to beat him out. Was he as great as we needed him to be? Not with BV as QB.

AS HAS BEEN STATED WELL ELSEWHERE this is football and nothing happens on its own (inna vacuum). Everything is dependent on the entire 2 deep. It only takes one person to have a bad play or series for the whole team to suffer. That bad series can compound very quickly and extend into the entire game, whereas one key player can have a bad game in basketball and the team can still overcome it.

Another 6 months of development can do wonders for this team and program. 18 and you wouldn't even recognize it. Even with the same staff. It's not what people want to hear, but it's true.

If Boley leads us to a win over ul I’d go watch UK in a bowl.

I like bowl games. Went last year to Jax and enjoyed it. Not a bowl snob. Only a couple really matter.
If you would travel hundreds of miles and spend hundreds (thousands?) of dollars to watch a 5-7 team play in Shreveport or Birmingham then I guess you’re a better fan than I am.

You are correct that only a couple bowl games really matter. Hopefully the expanded playoffs will winnow down the excessive number of bowl games we have currently; then at some point in the future going to a bowl game will really mean something.

What the f*ck else is he going to say?

Hell, he was in it, come hell or high water, with Cal. Right up until he said good luck in Arkansas.

Had that goofy ass interview where they were both yucking it up and cackling like a couple ole hens.

He's not going to cause a scene. Not publicly anyway. Not his nature.

Are they taking 5-7 teams in bowl games?

Have no words to express of how out of touch you are if you don’t think UK portal class was not an all time bust

In what world is Mincey not a bust. He was the worst Oline kn an awful Oline unit?

Brock wasn’t a bust? He’s approaching as many td vs int …

If you want to believe that crap sandwich stoops and Mitch are peddling…you can eat by yourself

In theory it is. But we have to invent signs to think that it could happen at that level.at best I think we can get back to 6 or 7. Low energy coach at this point that just tried to get out of dodge. Awful record with his most experienced team. 13 years with 1 functional offense. Complete roster turnover coming up in the off season. The schedule he found success with is gone. The coaches he built his most successful stretch from playing are gone…Barry Odom, Will Muschamp, Satterfield, Derrick Mason.

So there's no need to try to improve the team? All righty then.

The problem is not only bringing in untalented players, it’s the inability to coach them up in all facets of the game. Stoops is a lousy coach and leader.
It’s also much harder to coach up college age kids when they are being paid more than most people make at their jobs. Even Alabama is having trouble keeping their kids focused. I’m trying real hard to detach from college football.

Oh there’s a reason. That’s his job every year right? Doesn’t change. That’s why he’s paid. He’s clearly going to be here. And I don’t hope for him to fail. I want it to get better. I just don’t see anything indicating he has it in him. I did think he was the right guy for some time. I just see the realities stacking that say that time is no more. We can hang on to ‘well he did this back then’ and at some point that gets you antiquated as if we aren’t already. I mean he can’t play players based what they did 3 seasons ago instead of what they’re doing right now and it’s the same for him.

Jumping from ‘I don’t see it happening at a high level again’ to a hyperbolic ‘well we won’t try then’ is disingenuous. We’ve lived some with his consistent coaching missteps that really haven’t improved since the beginning of when he started here but we still felt like we were getting his best effort. Now it seems we are getting his shortcomings plus a ‘I’m here punching my clock’ effort. And that’s not ever going to get improvement at UK. That started before this season.

Well I guess I am.

UK’s my team and they don’t have to be a 10 win or better to get my support. Don’t think any were 5-7 but I’d still go.

I’d love for them to be great every year. Love to see them in the SEC championship game in my lifetime. Love to see them in the playoffs. Don’t know if that’s gonna happen. Hopeful. Fingers crossed. Out of my hands. Be better.

I have driven to Birmingham to watch UK in a bowl game. And Memphis and Nashville and Tampa and Atlanta and Charlotte (the Bowden performance in the exciting win in the Belk is memorable).

I guess it’s similar as it was going to watch my kids play ball. I’m in and I enjoyed those cities and games.

Have done the same with the SEC bball tourneys.

It’s my team and I’m riding for the brand hell or high water but I understand your sentiment.

Well, technically, a 360 is a turn around.

Fair, actually. It's largely just an excuse to hit the beach, regardless of the bowl's prestige or lack thereof. The worst minor bowls are those not on the beach or at least in an interesting city, the latter being of less interest, but some. Liberty and Music City come to mind.

With the new roster limits, rosters are going to be flipping all over the place. We won’t be alone. Just gonna be interesting to see who comes out on top and if we will be serious players in the free agency market or just pretenders.
Yes, and let's hope Barnhart is proven right. Whatever one's acquired feelings about our athletics director may be, it is best for those of us who actually care about UK sports if Barnhart is as right about football as he has been about literally every other UK sport.

I respect your UK fandom immensely. The only bowl game I attended was the Music City Bowl in 1999 vs Syracuse. Generally family obligations and budgetary constraints have kept me from traveling over the holidays.

This season has been such a disappointment I couldn’t fathom getting excited to travel to watch them play in a bowl game as a 5-7 team. If this was Stoops first season after the Joker era it would be a different story; but this year’s team has fallen so short of expectations. All that said I’ll be in stands tomorrow cheering for a win over the Cards.
