Missouri at Kentucky (Friday)

Seth has a battle on his hands for this last out and to end this thing. Full count. Walked him. Looks like there is now some action in the UK pen. Jones up and warming, but he's far from ready. Logue finally works ahead on a hitter and goes up 0-2 before getting a strikeout to end the game and go 1-0 in SEC play.

Not a strong outing by Logue, but that is a grow up outing.

Hey it is a great start of the SEC season. I don't think Missouri is hurting for pitching so it is mainly in getting the win. 7 innings from Stupp is good stuff.

One observation and one question.....

That left fielder is lazy and has no business in the outfield! Bad reads, bad speed, and needs to catch the ball instead of always trying to bare hand it. Man oh man, that is just horrible. That kind of play is going to end up getting you beat. Is there nobody that can play out there? Come on now. Defense much better but that LF position is just bad. bad. bad.

That’s Anu. The only reason he’s out there is his bat. Harmon took over the DH so that squeezed Anu to a position he has no business playing.

^ Trading defense for offense. Cats this year are like some softball teams I used to play on - too many DH’s and 1B - and not enough true OF’s that can also hit. Something has to give when you have that mix unfortunately.

I am a stats guy and from those I don’t think the true outfielders have even been utilized. One has 26 ABs the other has 6. Maybe I am missing something here.

Hill is the best defensive outfielder. It's not really clear why he isn't playing. Before he got taken out he was hitting .280. So, he can hit.

Shelby is the other. He is a decent hitter, but has struggled at times.
