Well, apparently MLB is deciding that they may 'streamline' their minor leagues and they may get rid of 40-60 minor league teams, including the Lexington Legends.

More painful for me, the Chattanooga Lookouts, with one of the best logos in baseball are also on the chopping block.

I really hope MLB reconsiders and doesn't make these changes. While most of them are small teams, I think it will mean a lot less opportunity for players and a lot less opportunity for fans.

Lot of people feel the same way, but tbh I have not attended a Legends game in years. and hear the attendance most nights is in the hundreds. Can't imagine the loss of a few Class A teams, whose players are still a long shot to play in the major leagues, will severely impact the MLB product.

I'm not for getting rid of any AAA or AA Level teams. There are way too many Single A Level clubs that I am on board with dissolving some of those levels in its entirety. It just gives the Reds more of an excuse to slowly develop prospects in comparison to other organizations. Washington has had 2 19 year olds within a decade and the Reds lost just as well as that franchise did in the decade prior.

I can begrudgingly acknowledge they can contract at the single A level. Reds have what.....Montana...Greeneville....Daytona....Arizona fall team. And on and on.

I love baseball. But if the NFL doesnt need 3 minor league tiers, MLB sure doesnt need that many. The truth of the matter is the SEC has plenty of guys who could head straight to AA.

For me its more about the fans. You want to keep interest growing in the next generation, killing so many small local minor league teams isnt a smart way to go about it.

I dont want to lose the Legends. Me and the gf go to 5 or 6 games a year. Love Thirsty Thursdays. Ive made peace with the fact that if they do get shut down, I'll just go to more UK games instead.

You can certainly go to more UK games, but UK games end a good bit before the Legends games do. Last home game is around early May, unless they get into the post season and host.

I wouldn't be surprised if some some of the A teams in very small markets are relocated to places like Lexington and Chattanooga that are losing their teams and have a good population base and a nice stadium.

Agreed. I lot of kids will be done before their time. Less opportunity for players with little exposure.
