Mike Farrell includes UL, WVU and UT as teams that are not scary anymore

USC could make a pretty big leap this year. If TN keeps their savings account open they could be good again. Texas will probably be back at some point if Sark can stay sober. Nebraska looks to be dead and buried. And UL was able to build their program up by beating a bunch of scrub teams and then have to only beat Rutgers or WVU to have double digit wins. Compare that to our schedule.

When was Syracuse scary?

Miami has made a lot of moves this offseason. They look like they're gonna be good again sooner than later. Agree with the above at USC and UT...if the Vols learn to play defense they look solid. We need to beat that ass this season.

Jim Brown era I'd guess why Syracuse was "scary".

True story. But that was so long ago I'm not sure what Mike is thinking here. They've had some solid teams in recent years, no doubt. But not really any even as good as some of those Petrino UofL teams IIRC. Just a really odd choice by him.

Five of the 15, Florida State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Louisville and Miami are on the list, all ACC teams . . . .

I’m starting to see a pattern.
I think it works similar if you look at Big East teams that left for another conf. They looked tough in the Least but against consistent competition they show their warts.
