Mich St just beat the best team in the country.

They are not bad at all but in terms of when they play us...there strength is the 2 5th year transfer guards and we will shut them right down

Rick has too big of an ego not to field a competitive team year after year, but it's going to be fun to watch the hammer fall on these guys very soon.

if they really believed they were that good...they wouldnt be so concerned about getting 5th year transfers for next year to fill the void by lee/lewis.

once again...ul is a 1 or 2 man show and a bunch of scrubs. the hacking defense wont save them this year

Also keep this in mind...Cards caught Spartans at a great time...4th game in 7 days coming back from west coast trip...conditions were perfect to be beat....didn't happen

According to a few uavel fans. Are they better than expected? Perhaps. Nice guards but inside game is abysmal. Best team in the country? LMAO

I'll just leave this right here.
Louisville's bigs actually impressed me last night. I don't know any of their names, but I saw a few pretty nice post moves and nice touch around the basket. Rick has done a good job developing 21 Feet of Suck.

Had this game taken place say,, Sat? Sparty would have won easily.. Both are about a two man team though with decent to below average roll players.. Last part mainly the tards.. Take away Valentine and Lee,, they'd both be royally screwed.. Kinda like us with Ulis,, lol..

I listened to some of the MSU radio broadcast on the drive home and they commented more than once how the players lacked energy and appeared to have jet lag from the west coast trip.

depends on how high or low your bar is.

johnson: 1-3 2 points (card fans RAVED about this kid all summer)
onuaku: 1-4 2 points (guy is a fouling machine)
mahmoud: 1-5 2 points
mathiang: 3-6 7 points
spalding: 0-0 0 points (but he gets deflections!)

6-18 - 13 points from 5 players. yeah pitinio is a great developer of talent.

i would say that we also have murray and skal. two players that are going top 5 in the draft. they can turn it on.

Louisville would have won if it hadn't blown so many point blank layups, but give Izzo credit for finding holes in that zone.

Right, Louisville is probably better than many expected, after the egg they laid during their summer trip.

But let's not kid ourselves. Mich State took Louisville very lightly and it nearly cost them the game. But if Louisville fans want to project last night's results onto the UK game, that would be unwise. Trey Lewis and Damion Lee were basically unknowns to Izzo and the staff. UofL had feasted on cupcakes so far, so I don't think anyone knew what to expect. That mystery is gone now. UK will be able to give those 2 lots of trouble in Rupp Arena, with multiple defenders capable of slowing them down, whereas Mich State doesn't have that kind of personnel.

I'm equally sure that the surprise or being taken lightly for Louisville is gone now.

Those numbers are surprising. It felt like they were playing a lot better while the game was going on.

msu is really small on the inside too. not much size and athleticism. they cant challenge some shots.

but what i find interesting....even though ul has all this size. they average just 5 blocks per game. and thats with play a pathetic schedule. uk ranks 11th with over 6.

With the best recruiting class in college bb, the sky is the limit for UL.

they have good guards, bad bigs, and no depth. Their bigs are serviceable bigs. They may upset someone along the line, but I expect them to beat the teams they should, and lose the ones they should, and be an average top 25 team....Lets remember this, Michigan State at one point was shooting ice cold. They were like 2 for 20 in one stretch. They played horrible when UL made that run.

Michigan State was knocked back for a while by Louisville's length and athleticism. I don't see UL as a final four team, but you never know, nobody ever said Pitino couldn't coach.
