Meyer moving Vanderbilt into Top 10

Yeah. He is a baller. No way he isn't a top 10.

He's the best sf.

Is porter cobsidered sf? Or PF?

Vanderbilt and Diallo is two lottery talent.
With Vanderbilt, Diallo and Green, we will have the best defensive back court in the country and it won't really be that close. Crazy how active JV is.

I'm glad he did so well. In the weeks prior, I had been wondering why he wasn't ranked higher. Admittedly, I was only going off highlight clips, but I saw a kid with a lot of skills. I read that his shot looked improved in the McDonald's practices, but I think that is still the area he needs to imrove. He did make one 3 at the Nike game, but his shot did look a bit quirky and not the mechanics you see in a better-than-average shooter.

SF. But after Porter I'd give the nod to Vanderbilt now passing up Knox who is still transitioning from PF to SF (handles and creating off the dribble in the half court being his weakness when it comes to being a SF)

If we can get Bamba...damn we'll be great next year. Rough early but end of the season, i would really like our chances.

Vanderbilt has so much to offer. He looks top 5 pick. Supposedly streaky shooter, but he doesn't need to be polished like that yet. Especially at SF.

Very dynamic, haven't seen a player like that in a while.

Cal's best teams have always been defensive juggernauts. I realize some of our fans want the best shooters, but having athletic freaks to defend every position makes winning in the NCAA Tournament easier. Vanderbilt is a game changer with all of the things he's capable of doing.

If we get Bamba, we have the potential to be the best defensive team in the country by season's end.

I'm really excited about Vanderbilt. He reminds me of a shorter Ben Simmons. So fluid, so good a rebounder & passer. Does everything well but shoot.

JV is the SF defender we didn't have this year..Add him to this years team and we would have won it all...Add Bamba and Johnson and we should be #1 and the heavy favorite for next year

IIRC, JV missed some summer ball due to an injury that dogged him for a while and his ranking dropped. Funny, Harry Giles had two knee surgeries and his ranking never faded.[eyeroll]

Have re-watched the McDAA game a couple of times, and Vando's stats weren't eye-popping, but he was pure energy - contesting for rebounds, deflecting balls, made some snazzy passes that his teammates couldn't handle.

My only concern about him is his health, a lot of times these long, lanky fast-growing guys can be injury prone. Hope that's not the case with him.

Everyone saying this kid is a top 10 player are the exact same ones saying Bam was last year, just saying

Huh? Bam was easily one of the top 10 players coming into HS . Literally this post makes zero sense. Also by the end of the year Bam was one of the top 5 centers in college so if Vanderbilt is a top 5 SF I will be thrilled ( I think he will as well) . But just a head scratcher of a post.

Do you want me to make a list of 10 better freshman? It'll be pretty easy

Can anyone give any details on the nature of Vanderbilt's injury?

Kids - or at least the people around them - aren't as up-front about their injuries as they used to be, but I think he had a stress fracture in his foot, which he re-injured when he perhaps tried to come back too quickly in his senior season.

Good news is he appears to be 100% healthy now, so fingers-crossed he stays that way. Foot injuries can be tricky. Not as scary as knee injuries though.

Thank you

Deserved. Dude dominated the Hoop Summit game. Absolutely dominated, on both ends of the floor.

You can't replace his kind of versatility.
I wish i could find the highlights of him only in that game. they usually do that but it doesnt seem so this year as ive looked.

Vanderbilt looks like a Cal player if I've ever seen one.
Yes he does,we are a player or two away from being scary good, somewhere Mark Emmert is cussing and throwing things,Roy spilled his Co-Colar and K's back is killing him.:D

Tell that to Bill Walton, Yao Ming, and Joel Embiid.

Foot problems have ended many careers, not saying I'm worried about Vanderbilt.

Hmmmm..... Well Bam was a pretty darn good player. Right? Vanderbilts versatility will be what separates him from the rest. He is absolutely a top 10 guy.

Vanderbilt was a monster at the point of the press in the Hoops Summit. Just imagine Diallo, Green and Bamba in the press.
