I would agree. However, Coen was the first and only OC here that had a fantastic offensive philosophy and scheme. He was not scared to gamble and play balanced football. He had the most consistent best play calling. Used the run to set up the pass, used the pass to set up the run.
We seem to have forgotten that Coen would only agree to take the OC job here IF HE was given complete autonomy on play calling.

His scripted plays for the first drive of each game were a thing of beauty and we scored on our first possession 10 of the 12 games last year.

I have never seen or heard anywhere that Scang has that autonomy, and maybe for good reason.

But, I think it is pretty obvious from his own comments that CMS is HEAVILY involved in offensive game plan and play calling during the game.

His Monday press conference was painful to hear how much HE struggled in making play calls for the offense at critical times during the game.

I wasn’t playing up Ali and Rigg, just reminding people they’re not here. But feel free to downplay them if you want, but I think it‘s silly to do so. They were both multi-year SEC starters on really good UK teams. Both, though not drafted, got NFL camp invites. Bates never started until Rigg left, and Coen had the luxury of having both, not just Bates. Look, we have talented skill players on this year’s team, but they are woefully inexperienced . True and RS freshman. A big contrast from a year ago. Talented experience matters. Just saying. In fact, if you told me I could have Wan’dale back, but I would have to RS both Brown and Key to have him, I’d do it. Would you?

You bring up leaving Buford at LT. Lol. Have you seen him at RT. Lets just say his not a two time All-American out there. He’s not even Flax out there. He”s definitely not Rosenthal, a talented 2year SEC starter. And btw, I wish we had a six year senior, multi-year starter like Fortner to “plug in” at center. Jesus. Wouldn’t that be nice. Lol.

Now, on to next year. I honestly think we are going to be a better offense next year, no matter who the OC is. Other than C-Rod, we’ll be better at every position. A year’s experience being the main contributor to this. A lot of talented young players back. And as good as Will is, 13 tds to 8 int, I feel we can get equal or even better production in the portal. I know that sounds crazy, lol, but I think it’s certainly possible. We could have 5 new starters on the OL, and I still think we could be better. That’s how bad our OL play has been this year. And I think Hall, Rodriguez, and Goodwin are definitely more talented than what we have now.

Ali was better than people want to admit. Rigg was awesome in the run game and at least serviceable in the pass game. We sorely miss his blocking for that position. So much that we forced a feisty undersized true freshman into service that's no threat in the pass game.

Dare leaving early killed both parties. Awful decision.

We will be a better offense next year. Levis isn't a great college QB and we're making his NFL draft development the focal point. The OL will be much better especially if they have a QB that can burn teams for blitzing nonstop. Right now defenses can blitz with impunity.

Everyone tried to pretend we were some awesome offense last year but the reality is we look pretty much exactly the same. Coen turned it around at the end and that's what fans remember

Geez Louise

is Ali better then Dane Key? Is Epps better than Bariion?

Is Rigg better than Bates? (I’d call it even). And then we’re acting line Dingle isn’t good?

i think Wandale is better then TayIon…but I’m no universe is Wandale/Ali/Epps better then Tayvion/Key/Brown. You people making up crap for this poor season are ridiculous

You said the OL as a position is overrated in terms of importance. You should probably just sit out any technical football discussion from here on.

Rigg is better than Bates. Ic is just as good as dingle. Ali was better than key in some aspects. People act like coen just cobbled together a bunch of misfits and took over the world. He had massively better talent in the most important position, and equal talent in most other spots. Barrion brown is the only difference and it doesn't really matter if we can't sustain drives enough to get him the ball.

Coen struggled until he inserted QB run in the LSU game. Scang and stoops are adamant they don't want to risk will by running him. That's the difference. This offense could transform overnight if they ran QB read a few times a game just like last year's offense transformed practically overnight.

Scangarello aint it.

We all see the weapons we have.

Can someone point to success scangarello has had? Looking at his career, nothing sticks out as above avg

He should be livid, instead he just looks defeated.

This tells me deep down inside he knows they aren't good enough this year and there's not a damn thing he can really do about it.

Things could get very ugly if we drop the Missouri game.
I thought CMS looked and sounded defeated on his call in show BEFORE the UT Beatdown.

Now, I understand why after watching that debacle.

There are obviously things going on within the program that we are not privileged to know about, but for Dr. Capiluto to stop by CMS office at 9:30 on Sunday night to offer his "encouragement " to CMS, he probably knows CMS is really low about where the program is right now, and struggling with the future of the program with all that is going on right now.

Stoops is contemplating his own future and the possibility of success at UK going forward IMO.

Yeah, I didn't buy that "I was just in the neighborhood, thought I'd drop in" bullshit re Capiluto. There was an intent behind that. Stoops program is at a crossroads, lose the MO game and 6-6 is likely but I'm not sure where that 6th win would come from. I know the TN game was the absolute worst of the Stoops Era, right there with Miss St in 2015 and the Alabama fiasco.

I agree. The UT game was a total systems failure for CMS.

Offense- Non existent
Defense- Unprepared and discombobulated.
Special Teams.....Ugh.

Where can he go from here at UK?
