Looking at the numbers tells the real value of Mark Stoops time at Kentucky.
Take a look at these numbers, I took out his first year, the 2-10, because it took him a year to change the culture.
SEC. EAST Stats 2014 - 2021
Georgia 84-20
Florida 65-35
Mizzo. 52-46
UK. 56-43
UT. 52-46
SC. 44-54
Vandy 29-66

SEC WEST Stats 2014-2021
Bama. 102-9
LSU. 70-30
Auburn. 62-40
TA&M. 65-35
MSST. 59-42
Ole Miss. 54-42
Arkansas. 41-56

We would have to say the current situation at Kentucky is in a Golden era at present. Coach Stoops has created a very stable enviornment, getting great national publicity, recruiting at highest level ever, and has put us in position to win the East in the near future. IMO one of his best attributes is coaching the position coaches and making tough decisions related to the coaches. Communication is the name of the game and evidently he's able to get his points across rather plainly. It's an exciting time to be part of the BBN.

To me you need to throw out the first 3 years at Kentucky. When he got here there was a rumor going around that he walked into Nutter during a workout and thought it was a HS camp. I am not exactly sure that is accurate but I can guarantee you it could have happened. At that point we were overmatched by WKU, let alone UofL or the SEC. It took 3 years of recruiting and redshirting to even get close to SEC caliber players. How he went 5-7 in years 2 and 3 are beyond me.

Such is life in the SEC. We're talking about the improvement in the numbers and we're still 8th in that list. That's no knock on Stoops. During his time we have passed SC and Vandy in the east along with Mizzou because they've recruited well.

From what I heard there was only 1 or 2 players that ran a 4.5 on the team when he got here. Unfortunately he had to build a foundation starting with the OL and DL and then filling in thru recruiting at other positions. We have more depth at more positions than I can ever remember.

Bottom line is we was dead last in the SEC and the margin was pretty big when Stoops took over. He has built a MAC level program into a top 4-5 SEC program and climbing. I hope the man stays until he reties and we name the Stadium and field after him.

The fact that his name is even mentioned when big time programs are looking for a head football coach speaks volumes about his reputation and where he has taken UK football. When was the last time UK's head football coach was even an afterthought for a better program hire?? None that I can ever remember honestly.

I remember going to practice in 2016 and seeing guys on the sideline redshirting that could have started. He was well aware of it but didn't want to throw talented guys who had not physically matured into the SEC for the sake of winning another game or two. Those redshirt years make a massive difference. That to me is why we are where we are, it all starts up front on both sides. We lost a ton of talent and had come of a couple of tough years recruiting where we missed on a few linemen and it hurt last year, the difference is that he rebounds much quicker than any coach we have ever had IMO.

Preach to me brother, more truthful word ever spoken. I hope there are fans that now see we have something special and he wants to be here. He fits our program perfectly, hope he stays until he retires.
