Well, this might have to do with Big Z.. he's going to skew these stats a bit, if I'm understanding this correctly.
Regardless, It's almost February, Cal needs to settle on his lineups. Edwards out. Wagner off the ball IMO. Shep and Reed need all the minutes they can handle. Dilly likely as well.

He is a revolving door coach, you mess up your out unless he thinks you need to work thru it at the cost of the team.
And what does it look like with Thiero back?!?! I partially think Cal is trying to “look out for the kid” in his mind and get him to transfer somewhere to get minutes because he knows he already has a major issue in getting all his other boys minutes. Can’t stand the dude and it gets worse with every stupid decision he makes (and mockery of the fans/program afterwards).
We probably need to narrow this to a core of 6-7 guys.

I'll defend Cal on this because I didn't think usc could keep up that level of intensity and keep hitting shots the way they did. I even said so on here, that I thought at halftime, USC would lose their legs and we'd be fine. I was wrong and that's all. I think Cal thought the same way and was subbing to keep our players rested. IDK! Hindsight is always 20/20. Doesn't stop people though

Cal was insane in substitution decisions last night. It was like snorted three lines of coke and drank 10 Red Bulls before tip. Dude was all over the place. Def affected our chemistry and execution. This was one of my biggest issues with that game.
Think he means Jeff and Reed. Put a wig on Jeff an throw him in. Probably fare better than most of our guys right now.

While there was a little too much in-and-out to suit my taste, Cal’s trying to find the right role for a new player who should have been eligible all year long. Not totally his fault.

He was trying to find some combo that might possibly work last night. He hasn’t been yanking guys in and out much this season. Last night Reed who is normally our spark was an absolute no show. That messed up a lot of the stable line ups he usually uses.

If he forces Thiero out I’ll be done with him. That would be the dumbest shit ever because Adou can actually play in games like last night.
Which he hasn’t been like in most games this year, very concerning that in the first game it felt like we didn’t have a chance all year he reverted to that.
^^^THIS is what many here have been concerned about since the loss to UNCW. The defense hasn't gotten any better. ANd with Calipari's crazy substitution patterns, it never will. There's chemistry in playing team defense just like there is on offense.
That unguarded inbounds play midway through the second half tells you all you need to know about this team's defensive ability.
It really seemed to me like he was willing to let the beat down happen to test, tinker, and show these dudes something. Seriously, I literally said that to my son during the game. He was playing a game on his phone and didn’t respond, so I can’t prove this cause he probably didn’t hear it; but I really said that out loud.

That is true and the number one reason he should shorten the rotation. We need our best guys getting the most offensive looks and defensive rotations.
Oh Cal would absolutely throw games for that reason, a long time ago. Now I’m not so sure he just doesn’t know what to do anymore. He used to be able to get Freshman to play lock down defense but not this team.

Yep, one of like two whole players we got back from last year that was becoming an integral part of this year’s team. Par for the course with CCC. Gotta make room for some more money makers, I mean players.
Agree on Edwards but disagree on Bradshaw. He probably shouldn't start, but he has a role on this team. I thought he was actually one of our better players last night.
He fights really hard, and we need as much of that on this team as we can get. I just think he's behind everyone else because he's only been playing for two months.
So as of tonight Couch Cal is down a point to a .676 winning percentage...all that remains is whether we lose 12 games like we did last year. We lost 6 $EC games last year (12-6) and are on a pace (4-2) for a repeat.
In the last 10 years you really needed to be 12th or better. Without looking back, I think one team was in the 20’s. Cal finally getting his type of players (as many said) will not be much better than the last couple years. Maybe we win two games in the tourney. That’s his new reality imo.

I'd say a majority of the board would say the 5 best players we had available were Sheppard, Dillingham, Reeves, Mitchell, and Big Z. I'm betting that combo got 1 minute or 0 minutes.
Start Thiero against Arkansas. Put Z with Sheppard and Dilly. Move Edwards to cigar spot in a blowout for whichever team.

He is still gonna play Edwards and we will still get into holes early. He will also still lose in March the same way he always fricking does and then we will be told about the damn recruits he brings in and everything will repeat again
