Maybe Florida state fans will shut up now!

Not defending FSU or the ACC, but they have a true freshman playing his second game and a bunch of players out after they were kept out of the playoffs. And they are playing a team that most thought was the best in the country for the first 12 games of the year.
FIFY!!!!

I still think UGA would’ve won this game by double digits if both teams were full strength, but having 23 guys not in the lineup is a major factor…especially considering who those guys were.

Does anyone think it would be a close game if FSU had all their starters, and UGA was missing so many key guys?

I just don’t agree this game shows much of anything regarding the strength or weakness of any conference
All the opt outs I saw were transfer portal opt outs. GA had 19, the same as FSU, I didn’t see any opt outs for nfl draft reasons on either squad. No idea if the list I saw was accurate though.

The UGA freshman are whipping FSU. Time to put in the cheerleaders.

Let the other teams have their little 4-team playoff. The winner should have to face the Big Dawg to determine the real champ, Otherwise, the CFB 2023 playoff winner has an asterisk.

That’s my point. The game doesn’t show us anything because it’s every bit as meaningless as they claim bowl games to be now in the opt out era.

I try to imagine how we UK fans would feel if we had been in a position to make the Orange Bowl this year… a big time bowl… what I would consider a milestone step for our program… and then we had something like a dozen of our best players bail on the game.

FSU should have boycotted as they said they would. This travesty is disrespect for the game, school, coaches, other team....

Then again....FSU. why should I be surprised?

Yeah, that’s incomplete…

FSU had quite a few of their best players sitting out for the draft and/or injured

Offense
Best QB, RB, top 2 WRs, best TE

Defense
Top edge rusher, half the secondary, and I think a couple of their top LBs

So, it wasn’t just their depth that was hurt but all their top playmakers on both sides of the ball

All of that is funny, they could have had all the player's they wanted and still would have lost this game... UGA had player's out also or is that not counting to help make Free shoesU look better...

They could’ve gone to the 12 team playoff this year but the ACC leaders balked at it. So they hosed one of their own teams. No sympathy. Nada.

This. And people wonder why fsu is suing the acc. Fsu won't win much in the sec or big 10 if they go there either. Their fans and program are delusional.

Not at all…I have no dog in the fight. I was just stating what I knew. When I saw how many key players FSU was missing, it made sense why the game was so incredibly lopsided.

If you read my earlier post, I said if both teams were full strength, I think UGA would still by double digits.

I have nothing against Florida state, but all the whining about being held out of the playoffs was getting a bit much. Georgia has just as much as an argument that they should have been in the playoffs without nearly the same whining or playing victim. As far as their opt outs, who made them opt out? They did that to their own team. So what. If both teams were at full strength then what would the score have been? 45 to 17?

Correct all these takes are ridiculous when fsu was full strength they were top 5 team in country but no point of arguing at this point.

I wouldn't take a fully healthy fsu over alabama, Georgia, michigan or osu (assuming also at full strength) but I'll give you 5th with travis perhaps. Texas and Washington hovering around there as well.

Wait until it's expanded...if people think the opt outs are bad now in bowl games not part of CFP, just wait until next year.

Basically if a school does not make the final 12, almost everyone will be sitting, and all the bowl games will be college football's version of the NFLs Pro Bowl. Most of them have become that way anyways.
Could be but I've personally only watched 1 bowl game so far anyway. The Gator Bowl.

But I'll likely watch both or at least most of the CFP games on Monday.

I’m not going to get carried away by the final score. Georgia did what they had to do and handled business against a clearly outmanned opponent. I do happen to believe we’re probably a 10-14 point favorite if both teams are all systems go.

The biggest thing I take away from all this is the culture of both programs. When things didn’t go their way, how did they respond? Georgia’s guys said, “I don’t want the season to end on a sour note. I’m going to go out and give it my all with my brothers.” FSU folded their tent and went home. Removed any opportunity to finish the season undefeated and be named a split champion if a Bama or Texas won the CFP.

Finishing matters. It almost felt like Kirby wanted to prove a point to future prospects that come down to those ~2 schools that this is the way we do things and we will be merciless if you choose differently.

Most of FSU’s players sitting out are opting out for the NFL draft whereis most of the GA players are ones that went to the transfer portal. Obviously apples to oranges. Georgia was the better team w/o Fl St starting QB regardless but to act like this score proves something is dumb. Shame that FSU had players that were so selfish to rob people of a potentially good game.
This score proves that Kirby’s/UGA’s culture > FSU's (lack of) culture. Our guys who weren't injured played rather than opted out to ensure this senior class went out with 50 wins to become the winningest class ever at UGA (despite the ridiculous 2020 Covid season).

Our guys care about each other and the University. FSU seemed like a team of mercenaries. Our opt outs were guys who transferred for more playing time, so I don't blame them for that, but we didn't have guys just sitting out... even the guys who will be drafted.

Yep... cost Ohio State a spot too. The move to prevent the 12 team playoff starting this year was spearheaded by the Big10.

I would love to see the "congressional" hearing they wanted because FSU was left out. Those Florida lawmakers would be laughed out of the place.

Yeah the excuse " well we didnt have our players" is weak sauce ... your FSU guys hada choice , they chose to bail .. Ga and the SEC >>>>>> FSU and the weak ass ACC . only our own collapse against Clemson kept the ACC from being utterly crushed . Days later I'm still salty , such a putrid coaching performance giving away a nice W .

Why it's so hard watching college football at times.

An expanded playoff can't come fast enough.
I quit watching this game early in the 2nd quarter, was like watching Georgia's first team scrimmage against the scout team

How long do these opt out travesties go on (Like the Syracuse 45-0 game where they played a TE at QB, the Oregon State no show vs. N Dame, and the Orange Bowl) before ticket sales become non existent and even the TV folks decide not to renew contracts because no one will waste time watching a non competitive blow out?
