May have just been me but Jay Bilas ...

No he took a jab at ullis as well. OP i agree he was talking about some other guard being better then him. I dont even remember his name. Yeah Bilas rubbed me wrong as well. Some of the fouls that were mickey mouse horseshit on us he was agreeing with refs etc... I am going to get sick of his arse this year.!
What????

Bilas called Ulis a 'floor general,' he said he was a sensational player, he said he would be in the NBA.

You're hearing things.

He should have bias, I smelt it too but he didn't hardly let it be known, he did a good job, he is one of the best if not the best college ball commentators. If he just continues to tell the truth he will have more future success.

When he tells the truth on UNC I'll consider him honest. I like Jay to an extent, but he's a hatchet man for the coaches fraternity.

I've watched Bilas plenty of times when I thought he was very objective. Most of the time. Tonight, he was less so.

Maybe he's just getting old. What I especially noticed tonight was that he would make a comment that was unsupported by replay. Instead of backtracking, he would stick with his original comment (in the face of visual evidence to the contrary).

Pretty much all announcers do this. Bilas tends to do it less. He's still easier to take than most.

some of you guys have super thin skin. He was very complimentary to UK. why do you even care what an announcer says anyways?

Rubbed me the wrong way tonight, I typically like him and he is normally pretty unbiased, but tonight he just seemed to take little shots at us. One point I remember clearly was the ridiculous last foul call on Skal where he literally got pushed by Allen and they called a foul to foul him out, Bilas said something along the lines of "That was just not a smart decision" ...

Not going to read what the idiots write. I agree with you. Several times during the game he was fondling his little duke dick in anticipation of the refs giving them the game as per usual. Jay is a one way bitch and will only use UK when it can help him. He still has underwear with coach K pubes in them.

The same reason you care what the posters on this board "says".:D

When Bilas is honest about the UNC scandal, I'll start respecting his opinion again.

It's possible that his handling of the UNC situation has colored my perception of him.

Like if you found out the preacher was a drunk...might be hard not to judge his sermons a little more harshly.

But he said he thought the kid from Providence was better. By God, if you don't say our player is the 2nd best in the country you are biased. FARRR JAY!!!!

The fact that he hides his bias as well as he does is a compliment to him as a professional, but there were noticeable moments. For example, when it came to a few fouls (like the one that fouled Skal out) he absolutely refused to call a spade a spade and admit it was a farce. He imagined some contact on that one, even on the replay, to justify giving the call to Duke.

Bilas was dying for Duke to hit a couple of threes and make it diffucult on us. At about the 10 minute mark, his Duke love started showing.

I thought he was fine. He was just stating what Duke needed to do to get back in the game. He was very complementary towards Lee, Ulis, Briscoe, and Murray. Not sure what else so e of you all want with him. Thought he talked down to Duke's play all night. Stated how poorly Allen was playing several times through the game. He is the best in the business and I headed nothing tonight to change that opinion. I think some poster, not necessarily talking about this poster, but some on here have selective hearing or they hear 1 comment and that cements an opinion of the entire night instead of taking in the entire game before forming an opinion.

So the fact that he stated that ULis was one of the top 2 PGs in college and definitely an NBA player means he was bias? Not to mention how he was gushing over Murray.

It always amazes me that some spend more time worrying about what is said on the broadcast than what is happening on the court.

He wasn't a complete Homer as he called out something early on that was in our favor after a bad call but he was pretty bad on some others. 9 out of 10 times he's as unbiased as you can get and only goes against the grain if it's a super bad call but tonight there were serval examples that just rubbed me the wrong way to. Lee's last foul for example, which was pure garbage was one of them. Not his best game

Amazes me how some people are so simple as to pick a perfect piece of corn out of a pile of shit and tell me how good it tastes.

Sorry, but some of you are just silly. It's part of the problem in the world today. People only want to hear what they want to hear, and everything else is perceived as bias. Unfortunately, there's so much noise on the Internet and social media, that people cluster with those who share their own thoughts, and everyone else is "wrong" or "biased."

This is silly. Is Jay Bilas a robot? Nobody is perfect, or completely unbiased.

Maybe it's a little extreme to get angry about it, but to notice it, comment on it...what's the big deal?

As far as "wrong." It irritates me when an announcer makes a pronouncement about a foul or whatever. Replay shows they were wrong. They stick with their original wrong take.

Or they don't show a replay when the official clearly got it wrong. So I rewind it myself and confirm that the official was wrong. But the announcer sticks with the schtick.

Not the end of the world, I just find it irksome. I think it's gotten worse through the years.

Jay Bilas is an excellent commentator and if he slips up a bit, then so be it. Seriously, the guy is a Duke grad and he shows us TONS of love. Some people are way too sensitive.

That last call on Skal where he said it was a good call and they showed the video of Skal not even touching him was hilarious. I still like him though. He is a former Duke player and I think tonight it's ok to make an exception if he's a little biased.

He's the best there is, but yea a bit of his heritage showed tonight. So what. I'm pretty sure it'd show if any of us called a game. Nothing wrong with being loyal to his alma mater. Especially when it's while our Cat's were pummeling them. In the many games to come I'm sure he'll mention what happened tonight in a very favorable way for UK. He loves Cal and the Cat's, but come on he's got to show some loyalty. If anything it makes him even more credible. And as another poster noted at least we didn't have to listen to a Dukie V love-fest with K which is what any broadcast by him seems to turn into.

Him and Jay Williams both seemed to be a bit more invested in this game than normal.

Jay Bilas usually loves us though. He's hern extremely complimentary of our program and Cal over the last several years.

But yeah tonight it seemed like he had a hard time reeling in his rooting interests

I can see where the OP would have felt that way. I thought he was complimentary to both teams. Sometimes a little to pro duke for cats fans and then other time pro uk for duke fandom. If we can get an inside presence at the right time we will be a heck of a team.

I agree that normally Bilas has been positive towards Calipari and UK,especially when others were crying that the One and Dones were ruining college hoops, but recently his Duke and ACC has been showing.
If anyone can say a man that thinks UNC didn't cheat,or that Duke didn't over the couple incidents they were involved in ,or that Rick Pitino is an innocent bystander,is unbiased and objective. Then you are being blind to things said and done.

I thought Bilas was just as professional as usual. Very insightful, complementary and critical when needed. Sometimes it seems, if the announcers aren't slurping and telling the world how great UK is, they our fans base thinks they are against us . Bilas is the best.

I agree. He had homer moments. I had to tell my wife he was a dookie. He normally is the best and least, oh, well homerish. Not so tonight. And remember, he defended Huckleberry and UNCHEAT

Bilas didn't bother me - guess I took his Duke comments with a grain of salt; the bias didn't bother me either - the man DID play for Duke. And if it makes anyone feel any better - he got to share crow with Jay Williams at the end of the game.

i stopped liking him when he said on espn a few weeks ago that the basketball program nor any coaches had been implicated in the unCHEAT investigation.
