Rubbed me the wrong way tonight, I typically like him and he is normally pretty unbiased, but tonight he just seemed to take little shots at us. One point I remember clearly was the ridiculous last foul call on Skal where he literally got pushed by Allen and they called a foul to foul him out, Bilas said something along the lines of "That was just not a smart decision" ...

No he took a jab at ullis as well. OP i agree he was talking about some other guard being better then him. I dont even remember his name. Yeah Bilas rubbed me wrong as well. Some of the fouls that were mickey mouse crap on us he was agreeing with refs etc... I am going to get sick of his arse this year.!

I agree he had some bias show tonight. Not a lot but first time I have seen it.

Still love him

Currently, Bilas is the most objective and most informative commentator for college hoops.

I would hate to think (as fanatic as I am about UK) how "unbiased" I might appear if I ever got the opportunity to call a UK game on national TV. And, I'm just an alum, not a former player.

I would rather have him than Dickie V!!!
Agreed...but I agree with some of the others above, his bias bled through some tonight...but he's still better than most of the clowns ESPN has and I'll take him for all the UK games. I can live it with for this one game.

It would be nearly impossible to call a game without showing any bias whatsoever to your alma-mater, without coming across like you are intentionally not complimenting them. I have no problem with a little bias. I mean he went to Duke. Would you be pissed if a former UK player called a game and showed a slight bias toward UK?

Jay is very professional and the best in the business. He was very complimentary of UK, especially of Ulis and Murray. You are really reaching for something to be upset about if you thought he was out of line tonight.

I wouldn't even attempt it. Every foul would be BS, I would be fired immediately.

Not upset, just rubbed me the wrong way and was something to be discussed on a message board, which believe it or not, is where we are talking about it.

Early I thought so too, later he acted disappointed in Duke's play. He's usually very good about saying when a call is suspect but tonight wasn't one of those nights but he did say Duke should have gotten a foul right after they blocked 5 shots on one trip down the floor without touching anybody.

Only problem I had with him... he questioned Skal's "intelligence" for simply committing a foul in the first half. Thought that was a little over the top.

I think you guys watch with more bias than him. Most on this board are UK dumb (a term I use when I talk about my Dad). You love UK so much you can't have an educated conversation about the game and look for reasons to feel slighted.

UK dumb affects a lot of people. Even some of the smartest men I know.

Stop being so sensitive. Bilas calls it like he sees it, he one of the best in the business.

I agree. They went on and on about Briscoe chewing on his mouth piece and he was over critical for gm 3 of the season but hey his Alma Ma took it up the bung.

Geez, the guy has 2 degrees from Duke and played for K. If he is not biased he would the most unusual human being alive.

He is the best in the business no doubt.

He bragged on both Murray and Ulisbut he did have a few remarks that made me say curse word you Jay.

He was probably disappointed with Dukes play because he wanted to see a better game. ESPN didn't want a blowout, they want a close, exciting, back and forth game. That's why they always say crap like, "They're only three 3 pointers away from being back in this thing". It's for the entertainment value.

These threads man...... Every single game someone complains about announcers being biased. Soon someone is going to complain that Tom Leach is rooting for a loss.

I think his Employer has given him grief and pushed him to be more of an ACC Homer, why else would Bilas take up for UNC and say they are innocent? He was definatley showing heavy homerism for Duke and taking shots at UK.

I felt he was leaning toward Duke, but he also made several compliments about Cal and our players. There were a couple of obvious bad calls down the stretch (why does Duke ALWAYS get those?) that he could have pointed out, but he did point out the BS fifth foul on Skal. He said it was awfully light contact or something like that.

I would MUCH rather have a slightly biased Bilas than Vitale. Vitale is a detriment to the broadcast at this point.

Bilas always is a bit sanctimonious (e.g., you can set your watch to him taking 2-3 shots at the NCAA in every game he's calling instead of, you know, calling the game he's calling ..). Tonight no exception. That's his schtick.

But overall no complaints.

He kept hoping Duke would get back into the game. Jay Williams on the other hand was totally unprofessional and unbiased.

Yes my thought exactly.

He could have said that Skal is the greatest player on Earth since the Garden of Eden, and some would take offense to it.

He's the best.
