  • mauriceclarettBlessed to go and speak to The University of Kentucky Football team tomorrow. I thoroughly enjoy being able to see different campuses and make a connection with these young guys. My daughter is also being exposed to so much more than I was at her age. That's extremely gratifying. Lots of small wins..!!!!

Awesome for Coach Stoops to bring him in. If you know his story, or watched the 30/30 ESPN documentary on Maurice you know he will give a powerful talk that will make an impact with our young men.

He seems to have settled down a ton. Could have had a good pro career if he had a better head on his shoulders as a young man.

Wow such a double standard here. Clarett is no different than the "thugs" you are always gripping about that UofL takes.

so you missed the part about clarrett turning his life around then didn't you? i would think that clarrett would say that the enabling done by so called "adults" who just wanted to win, probably had as much to do with his downfall as the environment he grew up in.

Clarett and Mike Williams (who had a much better but still unexceptional and short career) didn't flame out because they didn't have a good head on their shoulder, they got royally screwed by the NFL and NCAA. They appealed, won the right to go to the NFL, NFL appealed, won the right to keep them out, then they spent a year without structure. Now, all the criminal stuff that came after for Clarett was dumb, but not totally unexpected either. His support system and safety net were taken away. The right thing for the NFL to do when they won their case would have been allowed Clarett and Williams in early anyways as one time exceptions, that probably would have made a world of difference for both men.

Good to see he's making something of himself but he definitely got the short end of the stick from both OSU/Tressel and the NFL.
