There were many more comments. But, I said if the NCAA doesn't impose a two year ban (meaning this year and next) on UL being able to participate in the post season, then their self-imposed penalty accomplishes exactly what they desired. They are protecting their future and sacrificing very little other than the players for this season. In fact with their 2 senior transfers, it even opens the door for more scholarship players to come next season, Let's see if the NCAA allows this farce.

And just who are these "saviors of the program" scholarship players UofL could bring in next year?

That is to say, I'm not sure UofL is really holding out hope of bringing in anyone else. They are simply hoping to hold on to the guys in their program and the few quality recruits they have signed already.

Powell goes out of her way to say Mathiang didn't participate in sex. Perhaps they were banking on that and then found out otherwise later on. That pic is pretty damning though.

My point is if there were the proper several year ban then some of those existing or potential recruits might consider going elsewhere. I believe UL's sell-imposed ban this season was to prevent any real impact to the program long-term. And, in fact, if there is no additional penalties, then they may achieve exactly what their goal was.

False. The ban this year is because Mango will be ruled ineligible. The nine games he played in will be forfeited. Any game he plays from here on out would be forfeited. The post season ban this year will have no impact on future penalties.

If this is anywhere near fact then Pitino's whole story goes up in flames(as if that is not already the case) Ramsey,Jurich and Pitino(and his whole staff) are gone and UL is likely to be starting 5 walk-ons next year.

I think the consensus nationally is just that - that almost always the NCAA accepts this kind of self imposed penalty, adding a little thing here or there but accepting it as the primary consequence. Which is why people like mike decourcy were so upset - it's just like you characterized it. They sacrificed the two seniors AND they were able to determine for themselves how to serve their punishment.

I am the non-believer in these parts, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I just have very little faith that either UofL or the ncaa will do the right thing - so my guess is whenever we all find out what the end result is, there will be a lot of anger that they "got away with it."
