Mary Willingham says FU to UNC fans

That one had some sting to it. Bravo. I hope he loves to write and continues to do so frequently because there is no shaming these Carolina bastards.

She basically addressed the morons on Inside Carolina (by name... she literally referenced the forum) and their intricate and totally uninformed theories on how the scandal came to be, and then shot them down by, line by line, taking apart an email from Deb Crowder in which she was basically setting up fake classes directly with members of the athletic department, including Wayne Walden, Roy's handpicked MVP (he literally called Wayne more important than anyone else on staff) who handled basketball and academics.

Six months after the Wainstein report, and six weeks after the publication of our book Cheated, defenders of the UNC athletic department continue to adhere to the gospel according to Jim Martin: “This was not an athletic scandal!”

Sadly, this is Jay Bilas' position too. I don't believe for a second he truly believes it but as a lawyer knows that the NCAA will look at UNC's scandals this way.

^^^ You know Smashcat it is really, really hard to grasp the fact that there are so many people (like Mary Willingham)with first hand knowledge of what went on at UNC yet the NCAA sits on the sidelines and has done nothing while other schools have suffered sanctions for far less offenses.

It is also amazing that other member institutions haven't called out the NCAA in a public manner.

The answer must be that the cheating is on such a grand scale and so deeply rooted in the whole institution that the NCAA is not equipped to deal with the fall out if they did act

I know this is not a new thought but I truly don't understand how this can go on without some agency finally saying enough is enough

How many times have serial killers gotten the death penalty while only being convicted of a few murders?

The NCAA doesn't need to "deal" with all of UNC's past cheating...

They need to throw the book at them for a few specific instances and then monitor them in the future.

it won't slow them down - they believe Willingham is a liar and manufactures information to fit her agenda of taking down UNC.

Jay Bilas interviewed Roy Williams about Rashad McCants allegations. I can't believe Bilas would stick with the academic fraud position

That could have something to do with Mary refusing to give her account on record. It's hard for the NCAA to use her info when she dodges interviews. Has anyone ever asked her why she refuses to speak with the NCAA? Odd seeing as how she clearly wants the truth to come out.

I think both her and Kane have a few more bullets left and are seeing what the final word is from the NCAA before they reveal all they know. The NCAA would like to know everything she knows before they make a ruling. They're going to look pretty foolish if after 2 investigations they try to stick to their message about this being about an academic matter only to have Kane or Willingham come forward with proof that coaches and athletic dept. employees were directly involved.

The NCAA insists that UNC be present when she gives her account. Mary Willingham refuses to do that.

So, they're withholding information from the NCAA and everyone else, only to wait and complain that UNC wasn't punished for what they were keeping secret? How does that make the NCAA look bad?

They're withholding information to wait and see if the NCAA is willing to do the right thing. They didn't uncover the academic scandal during their first investigation and they sent an ex-UNC athlete to take part in that investigation. Now they are trying to say they have no jurisdiction over academic matters even though they have had no trouble punishing schools for academic violations in the past (Minnesota, Marshall, FSU, Memphis and Georgia to name a few). Now they want Willingham to tell them all she knows so they will be able to continue to aid UNC as much as possible. Without knowing all that Willingham knows, they can't cover up and ignore violations without fear that they will be exposed as the corrupt organization we know they are.

Bingo! Why does she not want to go on record with UNC present? Could it be because they can refute what she says if it's not true?
The only people who have told the truth are Mary W. and Rashad McCants. Unc *** has had many internal investigations before the Wainstein report. Unc cheat has delayed for years now. So no one believes anything Unc cheat says or does at this point. Did McCants lie about anything? His transcripts prove he did not. Unc did not refute anything he said. Just the unc cheat fanbase, like Bobby who tried to discredit McCants. The Jim Martin report has brain washed Bobby to the truth. Has unc cheat refuted anything in Mary's book Bobby? They have had plenty of time now to read it just like the Wainstein report!!!! GBB

What is the NCAA's reason for insisting that UNC is present? Maybe you have it backwards; Willingham can refute what UNC is saying. If McCants is lying why doesn't his teammates who claim their classes were legitimate release their transcripts?
