In “your” OP, you twice excluded yourself from being a fan of UK.

Pray tell, who is your program?
Kentucky? I’ve made that clear? I’m a season ticket holder. Why are you having such a hard time keeping up with the conversation my guy? Could it be you’re really just another cousin kissing inbred from Johnson or Pike county?

Ahh, you make friends, easily, I see. Such a gift for words!

I assume you are neither Catholic nor from Appalachia.

But if you are from Kentucky, and not a product of Catholic schools, are you not a product of Kentucky’s public educational system?

Sounds like it did a pretty good job of preparing you for law school in the industrial wasteland!

This dude is definitely northern KY or from Louisville. They think they're from the midwest.

How very fortunate we are that a native Kentuckian (who thinks all things Kentucky are inferior, perverted, inbred, or sh!tholes) is willing to lower himself to watch our Southern, Subhuman football team!!

With friends like this, who needs enemies!

There is one think you have to remember, it's more about the Jim's and Joe's than the X's and O's. Not saying Stoops isn't a good X and O coach. But it's clear he has embraced recruiting and the results on the field show that. Most everyone agreed Mullen was a great play caller and QB teacher, but he didn't like recruiting and the slide of UF started. Anyway I think it's Stoops ability to sell his program, bring in better players and run more complex schemes. For the record feel the same about Kirby, without his upgrade of the D we would be a Mark Richt coach team, an 8-10 win team.

Yep, your right on Hack. I'm a easy going 77 yr old, church going person, but I would take his law degree and stick it where the sun don't don't shine and make him enjoy it. No I'm not from one of the counties he mentioned, I'm way westward but think like my brethern from the Eastern part of the state, we all actually love our state.

Nope. From Kentucky. Graduate of Michigan Law School, class of 2006. Magna Cum Laude and recipient of the Henry Bates Memorial Scholarship lol. You can fact check that online. I’m pretty sure the university keeps a registry. There were only 3 of us to receive that award that year lol.

But yea, much more prestigious than your little shit hole school in the shithole town that’s Danville. Lol.

You are the one shouting about kissing cousins, so you must have been one... I have always said and heard that the hen that cackles is the one laying the egg.. So you are who you are.... Grow up dummy, and pat yourself on the back for being so recognized by a school of cesspools... Or better just stop trying to start arguments with other UK fans....
You are the one starting crap..... I hate seeing so called fan's talk down to other's... Good thing I'm not in charge I would ban you for self back patting, lol....
I was a fan of UK before your daddy spilled his juice on the couch...

Something I've wondered with Stoops the last couple years. Seems like he can't seem to quite get over that 9 win regular season hump. Made me think, as wonderful as Stoops has been for this program (I love that man like he's my own family and would run through a wall for him) does he actually raise the ceiling for your program? Or does he simply just raise the floor?

We've seen UK win 8, 9, and 10 games under other coaches (albeit not often), so it can be done. Stoops however, has done it more consistently and (once he got it going) he has had a much high "floor" than other coaches in terms of consistency. I'm curious as to what others think about him.
Your comment suggests you are only looking at the last couple of seasons. When Stoops got here in 2013, our football team was coming off a two win season. Believe it or not, Stoops has taken our football program to new heights. Believe your eyes. Stoops is very clearly a ceiling raiser.

I have no doubt whatsoever that you are from Kentucky. To wit, Louisville, Kentucky.

I will say this, y'all are so much more civilized, educated, and less toxic than the basketball message board crowd is lol. I've genuinely enjoyed the respectful exchanges I've had in this thread. The one idiot excluded lol. The rest of y'all are awesome!
Just wait and see if the football team has a losing season and see what happens

It won’t be as bad as Rafters. I mean, football is my wheelhouse, but the inflated emotions and hyperbole on that board after a loss is unreal. Over a BASKETBALL game. Could you imagine Alabama, UGA or USC fans melting down like that over basketball?!??

He's both, and I don't really understand the criticism he gets from some folks. He's not perfect but he learns from his mistakes and continues to take us to new heights. I also firmly believe he wants to stick around and build something great, which is hard to say about any coach in the current college landscape.

We're lucky to have him AND his loyalty to the program imo.

I'd have to question the IQ of anyone who would suggest Stoops hasn't raised both the floor and the ceiling since he arrived. Starting in year 4, when he had all of his own players, he has averaged 7.7 wins and if you throw out the COVID/All SEC schedule year, it pops up to 8.2 wins. Now if you want to ask is he capable of raising the ceiling further, say to average 9+ wins, that will be more difficult, especially given the looming 9 game SEC schedule. I would also remind that there are very few coaches who average 9+ wins over many years in the SEC. Only the elite teams are able to sustain that level of performance and it doesn't often maintain through multiple coaches.

This thread is good example of message boards like this. It is unwritten but strictly adhered to which states any thread shall, must and will after 12 posts become a pi$$ing contest by at minimum 2 of the posters... LOL...

To my way of looking at it, your point is obviously correct. I can't understand how anyone who actually watches our football games could argue that Stoops hasn't raised both the program's floor and ceiling. In 2013, we were a two-win team that couldn't handle Western Kentucky. In 2022, the program's ceiling is obviously much higher, the floor is much higher too, and every NFL team shows up for our pro day in Lexington. Stoops is the winningest coach in UK football history, and our 2022 QB is about to be an NFL 1st round draft pick. The best QB in the transfer portal recently enrolled at UK. A year ago, our DC turned down the same position and a $2 million salary at LSU. Our current OC was OC of the LA Rams in 2022. We had the SEC's #2 ranked defense in 2022. All of our football facilities have been renovated or replaced since Stoops got here. The improvement in the program under Stoops is astronomical.

I voted floor raiser even though he’s a little bit both. He’ll never win a title and likely never a SEC title. But we desperately needed a floor and he provided one.

Actually a national title is more likely than a SEC title if they go to 12 teams. But still, highly highly unlikely.

Yeah, Leach ran off a long list of accomplishments Stoops has already done here. Really think with Levis first and now Leary, Stoops has a good chance to start that string of great QB's that I think would close that gap a lot more with the very top programs. Our defense from year to year and now the skill players on offense they are recruiting and getting, the program looks to be on the rise even more.

Agree 100%. With a defensive background, it is only natural that Stoops has been able to build an elite defense first. Is UK's defense really "elite" now? Some people, stuck in the past, might say no. But I say yes, our defense has become elite. Why? In 2022 we were #12 in the nation in total defense, just behind GA (#10) but ahead of AL (#13) and OH St (#14). That is remarkable. And we were #11 in the nation in scoring defense, just behind AL but well ahead of Clemson, OH St, TX, LSU, TN, and ND. Ranked schools have been trying to hire away our DC Brad White. Last year, LSU offered Coach White their DC job at $2 million a year but White turned them down. Stoops and White have built a defensive culture at UK that has attracted players like Bully McCall, JJ Weaver, Deone Walker, JQ Hardaway, Kendrick Gilbert, Grant Godfrey, and Avery Stuart. Now we are already getting visits from high upside 2024 defenders like Brian Robinson, James Nesta, and Koy Beasley.

Then, what about our offense? It is not elite. We know that. So, what needs to be done? First, Stoops has to stabilize the OC position. Liam Coen, Stoops' candidate of choice, recently signed a multiyear contract and is saying all of the right things. We know Coen can coach. As importantly, Coen probably has more upside than any of Stoops former OCs for recruiting SEC caliber QBs and WRs. Coen brought Will Levis here through the transfer portal and also had a big impact on recruitments of Dane Key and Barion Brown. So Coen is a stabilizing force. Then, Stoops and Coen need to get a couple of young high upside QBs on campus. UK's BBW OL needs to be retooled, which is in progress now. Getting that right is a fundamental necessity because everything begins upfront offensively. Of course, Coach Coen will have to turn UK's offensive roster over to finish the job of restocking with young players who fit his system. This will require a couple of classes, but improvement should be evident each year. How good can it get for Coen at UK? I think that just depends on how long he wants to stay. If Sean McVay likes Coen, then so do I. I am confident Mitch Barnhart will do what is neccessary to give Coen every reason to stay at UK. Winning begets winning, and Coen is already making a lot of money in Lexington.
