Mark stoops contacted by lsu

Would be interesting to see who all has turned them down so far to get to Stoops. It also lets me believe LSU thinks higher of Stoops than Franklin. I think Franklin would run barefoot to Baton Rouge if offered.

LSU would be making a mistake with Stoops. He is too conservative to run an offense that will get them back to the top. UK and Stoops are a perfect fit.

I would not counter offer if LSU makes him a top 10 coach as Stoops is a top 25 coach.

SBNation just posted an article. It states…”If offered, it would be one the Kentucky coach would “seriously consider.”

So it was just a third party inquiry and says one or more candidates are ahead of Stoops.

At this point of Stoops coaching career the foot dragging on the indoor facility will push him out the door faster than about anything.
I thought that was Nutter? So is he asking for an upgrade at Nutter or a new facility somewhere else?

Mark would be an idiot to take it if he wants a long career as a HC. Litany of fired coaches. Even Saban got out. Pressure plus and that west division is a meat grinder with great coaches.

You’re on the clock and it’s just a matter of when they cut you unless you’re last name is Wade.
Saban left for the NFL. I think with what Stoops has been able to do here, he’d be able to get another power 5 job if he got fired from LSU. Similar to Will Muschamp, but he didn’t have the success Stoops has had. I agree that the SEC West is brutal. I wouldn’t want to do that because 9-3 at LSU gets you canned.

The thing is Matt is basically a basketball guy only. But whats funny is that he gives off the feeling that Cal only tolerates Matt. You can tell Matt wants to be his buddy whereas Cal is just like "Oh God, will you leave me alone?"

Whereas it's very obvious Stoops and Marrow are actually Matt's friend and enjoy his company. Thats why I think Matt actually has a legit idea of whats going on. It's also why his views on football have changed the past few years.

Ironic isn't it?

Can WE get Les Miles? He's unemployed currently.
LOL. no. IMO, if Stoops were to leave, (he'd takes Marrow with him) I think Mitch's first call should be to Bob Stoops. Not sure if he would listen, but he could build on the foundation his brother built and he has name recognition that could keep us recruiting at a higher level. I've been baffled as to why he hasn't gotten back into coaching at the college or Pro level. I know he had a short stint with the failed XFL experiment, so it seems there's some passion to coach still there. He's older than Mark, but still young enough to have a good number of years left to coach. Think of it like the Rich Brooks hire but another notch higher.

would love getting bob stoops, just don't think he would follow his brother like that

It's not full sized.
What's not full sized? Nutter? it's bigger than most of the facilities around because it has the indoor track around the field. The gripe about it is the scheduling and having to compete with the other sports for use because of the track.

Nutter is only like 60 yards or so. I was in there last year for an XC elite run my son ran in and it is very small

Jones now says an LSU insider tells him stoops is #3. Lmao ok.

Of they hire stoops, whatever boosters ponied up to fire O will pony up to fire the AD. No way they have stoops that high.

Look who we know they're looking at. Brady O'Brien and Jimbo. 3 offensive guys. They probably had lane on there too. LSU is more likely to hire coen as an oc than stoops as hc.

It's just made up to put pressure on Mitch. I'm definitely not opposed to putting pressure on Mitch, but crying wolf stops working

Uhm you realize he is the second winningest coach in school history right. If he leaves now he'll stay that way, but if he stays next year, he should pass Bear Bryant, barring a total collapse for most wins all time at UK. That's pretty legendary.

The legendary status at UK is pretty low honestly. The guy gets top 15 money and even if there had been a 12 team playoff the last decade we would have never qualified. He also has never won the East and do not see that happening anytime soon as he cannot beat 2/3 of UT, FL and UGA in the same season. He has done a great job by UK standards though for sure. Our standards are just really low.

It may be low, but he is definitely a UK Football Coaching Legend. He may not be legendary status anywhere else, but for UK he is!

Ya this strikes me as a leverage play from our coaching staff. Also a way to manufacture momentum honestly. I don’t think either of these will happen, but I’m more concerned about Marrow/MSU than Stoops/LSU.

I hope LSU takes him! We can do better now, and we will never get to the next level to actually compete for the SEC with him here. I appreciate everything he has done for UK, but it's time for a change.

Why would any Coach want to go into that Pressure Cooker they just fired a Coach that won the National Championship a couple of years ago.
If you are Mark Stoops, I have a feeling every job is a pressure cooker. I think that is how he lives.

Legendary?!?! Really?!?! Just because you've done a little better than the majority of putrid UK coaches in history, does that really elevate you to 'Legendary' status? I'm not feelin' it, but to each his own. You've been the beneficiary of a weak East for a decade and you have had a twelfth game against a patsy that previous coaches did not get. I like what Stoops has done for the program. 'Legendary' is just not a word I would use to describe him, but that's just me.

Big deal. If he wants to leave then let him go. But I really doubt there’s much to this “story” and how do we even know he was contacted about the job? Maybe they were contacting him to get his permission to interview one of his assistants? Whatever it is, I’m sure UK Football will survive it.

The turf itself is cut off on the sidelines starting at about the 10 yard line on each end. The plan is to build a new indoor track facility in the location of the old baseball stadium and then utilize the existing Nutter Fieldhouse with turf from wall to wall, giving them a full field.

But when is the question.

But when is the question.
That I'm unsure of. I know when Mitch was on KSR a couple months ago, he was aware and supportive of this happening. It's probably about a $40 - $50 million project, so I'd assume when they get the money. So, sooner rather than later?

16 games under .500 in conference is not legendary. he has done well here, but legend is way too far.
Agree he is by no means a legend. But, you also have to take into consideration that he took over an absolutely terrible roster, worst in the SEC. Jokers 3 recruiting classes were 50th, 61st and 63rd with only 3 total 4 stars and 15 total 2 stars. he needs some sort of pass on that. He's 29 - 45 overall, but over the past 6 years, he's 25 - 25. Again, not legend status, but much better than what his numbers suggest due to the roster he took over.
