Mark Smith Interview from Derby Classic Practice

Not too much new information here, but I figured I'd post for those interested. Quick summary: A) Excited to be around UK fans, B) Rooming with Shai, C) Unofficial to UK next week, D) Mich St pushed for him to commit during visit, E) Cal and Payne have been in contact with him over past couple weeks, F) Cal left him speechless during his in-home visit and he thinks of him as a "legend" even before seeing One and Not Done.

The most important thing about the video is that Mark Smith also played Football in high school. Forget the fact he's rooming with Shai, playing in the Derby Classic, a UK fan, or see's Cal as a legend. The fact that he played Football in high school tells me that he's going to commit to UK. I mean you guys do know that WCS played Football in high school too, don't you? He committed so why wouldn't Smith.

I dont know. Im kinda getting this feeling we may get Smith, Johnson, and Bamba. After the officiating nonsense this year, Cal may not be messing around. He might want the best of the best AND guys who have talent but might stick around 2-3 years. He compiled a crazy roster in 2015. Why not do it again?

I think you're crazy if you don't want this kid. Winning Illinois Mr. Basketball is a huge achievement and he did it even though he only focused on basketball for one or two years. That's really remarkable.

Interesting prospect, but if he's gettable I'd rather have Cam Johnson.
6-8, proven he can shoot better than 40 percent from 3 playing in the ACC, 3.9 student, and brings much-needed experience to a green team.

6-8, proven he can shoot better than 40 percent from 3 playing in the ACC, 3.9 student, and brings much-needed experience to a green team.

Johnson shot 74 free throws in 35 games. Briscoe shot 148 in 38. Johnson is a bit one dimensional, and not sure where he'd fit in the rotation with Diallo and Vanderbilt on the wings.
