So yes it is safe to assume Brandon will stay?

Also, I think Garrison will play more 4 next season based on this statement. We prob will still get a portal starter 5... I think he has the potential to play the 4. He seems to have decent ability to guard smaller players. His rebounding and defense are not strong for 5, but if he plays at 4, it wouldn't be too much of an issue.

If Garrison can get up to 35% on his three point shot next year, I don't see why not.

He's already up to 33% this season, and has been shooting at a pretty good clip recently.

I still think Garrison has the potential to be an all-conference player by his senior year.

Yeah I’m not sure he can run point-center like Pope likes, because the decision making isn’t there yet, but he could be a good two-way stretch 4. But who knows, maybe he can really grow this offseason in the facilitating and decision making department. I just think his lack of maturity/poise hurts him in that department.

Mr. Garrison had: 15 pts 2 reb 4 ast 3 st 1 blk last night.

His rebounds per 40 minutes is well below Williams, but a little above Carr. His ast/to ratio is actually significantly higher than Williams. I hope we have him the next two years. Add two portal big men to go with Garrison/Moreno, and we'll be good in the front court.

Not just picking on this quote but Pope is so insanely positive towards his players(a good thing) that it has and will continue to make reading into things much harder.

Garrison made some nice passes last night, but Williams is better

He has pretty nice form so I’m not surprised he shoots over 30% from 3 and can see him being a solid piece next season. He’s athletic and can defend the perimeter guys decently as evidenced by the OU game, hit weights hard this off season and continue to work on his post game and the young man has nice future ahead of him.

Garrison has a nice looking shot. He can def be a stretch 4/5.

He played well again last night. He’s good for about 10 a game in limited minutes.

I love the one game bubble we exist in on this board.

All coaches are salesmen. Don't forget that. With the nature of the portal and NIL, coaches not only have to recruit new players but continually have to recruit their own players that have eligibility left. Just chalk this up to that.

BG is not a "stretch 4". That requires dribbling and passing. Neither of which he's better than bad at. Upside, he's got room to improve. But BG is your 5, especially in this offense. And he's got a long, long way to go at a lot of things if he's going to be the starter at the 5 in this system and the team be elite level good. He's got TREMENDOUS upside, but he's also got a ton of growth to do as well.

Garrison becomes a stretch 4 could be both beneficial to his future career and our team strength, win-win situation

He NEEDS to get quicker to guard a 4 for extended minutes.

But more importantly, he REALLY NEEDS to become a better rebounder!!!! His 6.7 per30min rebound rate is BAD for a C, and not good for a PF. Car is only 5.9 this year, although that dropped when he hurt his back, but I don't think it was ever over 7.5. I guess if BG is paired with a really good rebounder (like Williams), then his poor rebounding can be overlooked.

We need to be thankful for every returning player we get. You can’t build a culture or consistently without retention. Would love to see Garrison back and I think if he can put on a few pounds he could become a second team All-SEC next year with an expanded role and more shots. He is only a sophomore this year which many forget

I think the high turnover rate through the cal years has made some forget that player development is a thing and players can improve year to year

That could be a comment aimed at BG and keeping him here as much as anything

He can still work on this and have a goal of doing this next year, but that could be anywhere. Doesn't clue me into anything definitive that he's staying or going.

If he keeps hitting them like he is currently, it really opens up that middle. This benefits Butler and Oweh driving, and Brea and Almonor shooting. Hell, it does lots of things.

His energy, especially on defense, has been exceptional the last couple of games. I love BG if, big if, he can keep his emotions in check.

Brandon G & Amari often played around 20 mins a game. (Yes, Amari usually played more). There is opportunity for Brandon to start and another Center to still get significant playing time. We modeled that well this year.
