Pope is a smart guy. This I know: he would be flexible on offense and defense. He would start and play the best and most deserving players. He wouldn’t promise starting positions to players if they haven’t proven themselves. He would have a National Championship as a priority not draft day. He would have designed plays, even out of bounds plays.
He is still young and hungry. Every great coach started in a similar position and with the right resources continued to improve. His team had a good season, the guy isn’t exactly a newbie.

If it comes down to him he gets the basic of basics. 4 million and a three year contract. Anything more is criminal.
Two years ago what had Danny Hurley proven? I guarantee you if we had been doing this search two years back and went after Hurley you and many others would have said the same negative comments.
Not even close, Pope has accomplished 20x’s more as a head coach than Payne.
If this is the best we can do then UK basketball deserves to continue to be irrelevant.
We don’t know what Mitch is doing because he hasn’t told us. Someone speculates that Pope is a candidate without Mitch saying anything, and every one on this board goes into orbit. It’s really ridiculous reading these responses when no one has a clue where things stand. Unreal.
Take a chance on a young guy. Our arena is named after a young dude that got his chance.
