Mark Pope "Coming In Hot" on UGA Transfer (Travis Graf)

He seems more like a guy would take last year with not many options left in the portal. If he is our starting point guard something went wrong.
Are you sure?

He is the best player in a tournament team

He has probably better profile than any players in our current team (except for butler)

He also has two years eligibility

He's a shooting guard that had to take the lead ballhandler role this past year for a Georgia team that was devoid of another playmaker. He has 69 career starts, there's not even anything that states he would be the teams starting point guard.

I think these three are on similar level

Finally, it all depends on Pope's evaluation

It is also likely Georgia guy is recruited as sg, we all don't know pope's thoughts
On the postgame show jones talked about Wilkerson, a player playing in the crown tournament and a player in the sweet 16.

He's my first choice of people in the portal.

He scored 21 vs Florida, 18 vs Auburn, 15 in the tournament vs Gonaga. He's got SEC size and athleticism. He's more of a combo guard. So if you don't get anyone else, he can be your lead guard.

But you could still take Braden Smith or Dedan Thomas or whoever else jumps in the portal--and slide this guy over to the SG spot.

I trust Pope's judgment. I think that he values perimeter defense now that we had to suffer through a season of limited ball penetration defense.

You get this kid and Smith to close out the perimeter.
Do we continue to recruit over the positions we already have secure or do we go every year with no continuity to build on . You have to ask yourself that we need bigs to pound the back boards in the worst way not 20 guards

Pope needs to get those superstar portal players he said he was going to get. The guys from Tulane and Georgia sure don't fit that.
I don't even get this.

He was at an SEC School. He scored 21 vs Florida, 18 vs Auburn. How does that not translate. He scored vs SEC teams last year. But he can't do it next year if he comes to Kentucky?

As far as Tulane: Mark Sears and Grant Nelson came from smaller schools. Walter Clayton played at freaking Iona. Johnni Broome was at Morehead State.

The reason the tournament is SO top heavy this year is that Power 5 schools are identifying the mid major guys that are really good. And they're stealing them before they blow up.

If we're so blind as to say "Oh, he plays at Tulane, he can't play for Kentucky," then those kids will keep going to Alabama, Auburn, Florida, etc. And they'll keep taking their teams deep in the tournament.

We have to be able to identify those kids and take them before Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Duke, etc.

Who are they recruiting over that they already have? They have 3-4 guards that are leaving after this season with only 2 coming in.

I don't think it's an either/or situation. I think we're in the wild west of NIL still. I think we're going to go after the best available players at each position regardless of what we have.

It amazes me that some on here don’t.

Pope stated when he got here that he understands the assignment. He is the one who is paid to produce. He and his staff go about things in a very analytical way.

Is it guaranteed that he will have the success here we all want him to have? Of course not. But what is guaranteed is that he will make what he believes are the absolute best decisions possible. And since I believe him to be both more intelligent and more motivated than John Calipari (at least at this point in their respective careers), I’m choosing to trust the guy. Not that I really have a choice anyway… but the constant skepticism and second-guessing of some does make me chuckle.
Agree it has to be a fit to the system. Look at Coleman Hawkins, Dickinson, Storr, ALL IU transfers and johnell Davis just to name a few that got paid big money to do very little

I’m hearing people say the advanced metrics were really good for Demary Jr. Does anyone know which ones people are referring to? I’d like to get more informed about him.

Dontworryaboutit is a good poster and I didn’t see anything to include him in that category. Just saying. He expressed some concern about the caliber of Demary, he didn’t spew toxic negativity.
He don’t care man, he is one of those that is gonan hate on me no matter what I post. Demary is a good player, I just have questions about him being PG 1. Would gladly take him on Kentucky for sure though. Also appreciate the shoutout

You deserve it, my bro. I find you to be a very misunderstood poster sometimes.

Should I be using Torvik or some other webpage to view the analytics that people are raving about? I’m genuinely clueless

I went through that Crown tournament. The talent is really poor. Kam Williams being on Tulane(in the tourney) could’ve been who he meant when he got the information.

Only players worthy of consideration imo:
Wesley Yates-USC(edited to add Brooks recruited him out of HS)
Moustapha Thiam- UCF
Keyshawn Hall- UCF(already in the portal)
Michael Rataj- OSU (already in portal)
