Mark Pope Billy Beane?

The thing I never understood about the movie is that Beane has never won anything.
The point of the movie is that the A's would have never even competed with the Yankees and Red Sox (and others) if they continued to keep their head down and play the same game that everyone else was playing. In being willing to do something COMPLETELY different than others, boldly in the face of conventional wisdom, the A's did something that nobody before them had ever done. Yes, they won 20 games in a row to set a record and ended up winning their division despite having 20% of the payroll of bigger clubs, and yes they lost in the playoffs, but they also mainstreamed the moneyball analytics approach that had been laughed out of baseball for years, and it worked.

I'm THRILLED that Pope is trying things that nobody else is willing to do. I think it's incredible.

I try to use this same approach in my work EVERY DAY.

You should read the book if you haven’t already. The real story is not as pretty as Hollywood portrayed.
