Marcelys Jones dismissed from the team

So just consider what you just said, "One rotten apple can destroy a locker room". If UL is so full of rotten apples why don't they just implode?

I get the rival talk. I just think this type of trash talk is poor sportsmanship when it comes down to it. Excuse making.

When I lost I walked across the mat and shook the kid's hand and went back to practice. I didn't go home wailing about how the kid wrestling a Fern Creek was only eligible because the school was giving him grades.

Difference in generations I guess. Now a days everybody wants to blame mommy and daddy for their personal failures. On this board, we create this boogie man who lives in Louisville and controls the police and the media. Then does something totally unique in college football by hiring guys with low character and bringing in players who make bad decisions.

Interesting comment from:
JDrum

Stoops used the word "sad" when describing Jones' dismissal, which struck me as a bit odd. Usually if a guy does something really bad, the coach is a bit put out and doesn't say "sad." I wonder what it involved? I've asked around to a few people in the know, but nobody seems to know much yet.

Kid was on a short leash, Stoops/UK gave him a 2nd chance to do something to change his life after he left tOSU. Kid could be a really likeable kid, Josh Harvey Clemons is, that just couldn't stay away from his vice so no reason this kid isn't the same. Maybe Stoops was sad that he threw that 2nd chance away, a 3rd may not be headed his way.

With the comment from Stoops it does sound like Jones has a problem he can't control. Maybe he needs rehab?
I guess that opens another scholly up to grab a lineman from somewhere.

It will stop once we start putting L's on their schedule. All this BS about what UL has had to do to build their program is relevant simply because they have been beating us like a drum for the better part of the renewed series.

I don't begrudge them at all. They have taken a Metro Conf school playing in front of a half emptied triple A ball park and somehow ended up in the ACC with 50k in the stands.

It's amazing to think about, especially if you ever saw that joke of a stadium they had before Papa Johns was built.

There was no other route for them to travel. The only school even remotely coming close to what they have done is TCU and that is because they are in a hotbed of football.

Truth be told taking castaways and retaining coaches with questionable character is the only way UL could have ever ended up in the ACC. If you disagree I'd love to hear what other path was available for that athletic program to ever be anything more than a Conf USA school.

Well dang...go Cards?

None of that will get you booted from an Urban Meyer coached team if you are a player. Hernandez could be the biggest rogue to ever play in the SEC and that's saying something, never missed a snap. Percy Harvin came to practice if he felt like it, was well known dope smoker. Another threaten to kill his GF, the mother of his child, neither missed a snap for Urban. With the way tOSU's recruiting has picked up, Urban didn't see much promise in Jones or anything he did or didn't do would be fine with Urban. Sounds like the kid come to UK expecting the same kind of things that were ignored at tOSU and found out the hard way it isn't.
Good grief.

Jones left osu and Meyer and Ginn tried talking him into staying. As for the rumors up there, they said he stole something out of a teammates locker and didn't go to class and training sessions regularly.

The pics I've seen of him it looks like he never goes to the weight room. Dude just looks marshmallow soft and all his mass is in his belly. Nothing about his arms, shoulders, chest etc scream "I work out" looks likes he lays around on the couch eating tator chips all day. May have all the potential in the world but if you don't work ethic to bring it out then ur going nowhere.

I remember hearing a song on the radio called "I work out" so I looked it upon youtube. Hahaha it's hilarious. At the 1:30 mark or so this guy looks more like a lineman to me than Jones does.

To get kicked off the team like 10 days into practice, and before school even starts tells me he must have really PO'd Stoops. Like several of you my first thought was wonder how long it will before Petrino calls him.

You're not even a good troll.

Since the kid got booted from OSU, I have a feeling Stoops offering had some strings, like, do this here, just once, and you're gone. Ok to give second chances depending on the situation, but if they repeat the problem, adios.

Thanks for your input Mrs. Jurich.

If you can't stay with the program more than a month, you were never going to add anything to it in the first place. Hard to see how we lost anything today.

I don't think Mommy and Daddy has anything to do with it. Closest thing may actually be Just Mommy-- No Daddy. It's the age old story about Noble vs Sleaze and it won't go away, it's just easier to take when sleaze is losing.

sure his number is on speed dial

This kid is going to regret the choices he is making.. If it doesn't get through his head by now, when will it?

Yea, PO'd was probably a bit too strong of a word. No doubt Stoop's laid out what he expected Jones to do, and not do, and when he strayed coach had no choice.

Terrible blow to our o-line. He was a tremendous talent, the kind we rarely get. That's two 4* players gone off the o-line in a weeks time. What appeared to be a position of strength in the future is quickly losing depth and quality.

He was lucky to get a second chance. Not to worry help is on the way. I stand firmly behind coach Stoops. You have to have high standards in place and enforce them.
