Marcelys Jones dismissed from the team

Bobby Petrino on line 1 [roll]

Sucks but Stoops is not playing around. You either be all in or you gone. Doesn't care how many stars you got next to your name. Fortunately we'll be just fine. Amazing what depth and great recruiting will do. In the past we'd be all 'woo is me'

Terrible blow to our o-line. He was a tremendous talent, the kind we rarely get. That's two 4* players gone off the o-line in a weeks time. What appeared to be a position of strength in the future is quickly losing depth and quality.

Disagree. Richardson was falling on the depth chart and wasn't putting on much of any weight. Was still 2 seasons away from playing if at all.

Marcelys could've had the talent on the field, but obviously doesn't off it. It doesn't matter what their star rating was after they hit the college field.

As far as future depth, you have Big George for 3-4 years, Nick Haynes for 3 years, Kyle Meadows for 3, Ramsey Meyers for 3, Cole Mosier for 3, Bunchy Stallings for 4, Toth for another year...then guys like LaRubbio, Stenberg, and a few other RS/true freshman + recruits Leavitt (JUCO), Jackson, Fortner, Young...followed by possible 5* Wills etc...OL should be very solid for a good long while.

Young man has been at two schools in two years, seems there may be a problem here. Urban Meyer is not known for running off top players with talent.

I hate to see this happen, but it does show Mark Stoop's character. I am proud of Stoops for having the gonads to do what he needed to do. I really hope that whatever the issue was with this young man, that he can turn this negative into a positive and better himself in whatever way he needs to lead a good positive life.

Wacky weed, missing team meetings and not meeting his weight training goals. Mutual decision to part ways

If that was true at OSU then I'm glad Stoops got rid of him at the first violation while here. No sense holding on to someone who keeps making the same bad decisions hoping that they will finally see the light and be that player you were hoping for. Stoops has too much else going for him right now to be that kind of coach who sticks with guys constantly making bad choices and hurting the team overall. It does sound like, however, just the type of guy Petrino would go after, doesn't it?

Next stop will be Rehab U which I understand needs a few good OLs and looks the other way when it comes to off the field short comings.

From teammate to enemy? I would not be surprised to see him at UL next year :chairshot:

Got to think his circumstances leaving Ohio State put him on a much shorter leash here than everyone else on a clean slate. Shame for him & us he couldnt keep up to the required standards. Probably a smaller MAC school back home might be best for him at this point. Best of luck Mr. Jones.

Where are people seeing about the weed, weight, etc at Ohio State? All I ever heard was a rumor about weed, but no proof to it. Is there something out there I am missing?

Too bad for him that he didn't transfer to UL. He would be a team captain for his transgressions [roll]

I smoke two joint in the afternoon
It makes me feel all right
I smoke two joints in time of peace
And two in time of war
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints
And then I smoke two more
Daddy he once told me
"Son, you be hard workin' man"
And momma she once told me
"Son, you do the best you can"
Then one day I meet a man
He came to me and said
"Hard work good and hard work fine
But first take care of head"
Whoa rock me to the night

Possibly a new fight song for Transfer U?

So a "transfer" is dismissed off our team and somehow the central topic of discussion reverts back to UL and their "criminal" transfers. You guys are freaking obsessed with a Metro school.

This goes back to the point I was making last week. We throw stones from a glass mansion.

SMH. Can we just stop talking about other schools and their off the field stuff. Don't you get tired of hearing "Kentucky's Shame" every freaking time you have a conversation with someone else?

Is the sky really falling?Makes the team stronger if he was that much of a problem.

None of that will get you booted from an Urban Meyer coached team if you are a player. Hernandez could be the biggest rogue to ever play in the SEC and that's saying something, never missed a snap. Percy Harvin came to practice if he felt like it, was well known dope smoker. Another threaten to kill his GF, the mother of his child, neither missed a snap for Urban. With the way tOSU's recruiting has picked up, Urban didn't see much promise in Jones or anything he did or didn't do would be fine with Urban. Sounds like the kid come to UK expecting the same kind of things that were ignored at tOSU and found out the hard way it isn't.

Then keep your stones in your pocket, nothing personal toward you.

But its a rival thing and it's not going to stop.

It will stop once we start putting L's on their schedule. All this BS about what UL has had to do to build their program is relevant simply because they have been beating us like a drum for the better part of the renewed series.

I don't begrudge them at all. They have taken a Metro Conf school playing in front of a half emptied triple A ball park and somehow ended up in the ACC with 50k in the stands.

It's amazing to think about, especially if you ever saw that joke of a stadium they had before Papa Johns was built.

There was no other route for them to travel. The only school even remotely coming close to what they have done is TCU and that is because they are in a hotbed of football.

Truth be told taking castaways and retaining coaches with questionable character is the only way UL could have ever ended up in the ACC. If you disagree I'd love to hear what other path was available for that athletic program to ever be anything more than a Conf USA school.

Born and raised in Louisville....so yes I know.

If you have such great respect for them, then enjoy watching them is all I can tell you I guess.

Glass mansion? At UL this would be swept under the rug, you know it, I know it, everyone and their mother in law knows it. As far as I know he's not a criminal yet, which is one of the prereqs for getting a call from UL.

UK and Stoops don't put up with it. Doesn't matter how talented the kid is. One rotten apple can destroy a locker room.

Class class class. Some people talk about it, others actually show it time and time again.

So just consider what you just said, "One rotten apple can destroy a locker room". If UL is so full of rotten apples why don't they just implode?

I get the rival talk. I just think this type of trash talk is poor sportsmanship when it comes down to it. Excuse making.

When I lost I walked across the mat and shook the kid's hand and went back to practice. I didn't go home wailing about how the kid wrestling a Fern Creek was only eligible because the school was giving him grades.

Difference in generations I guess. Now a days everybody wants to blame mommy and daddy for their personal failures. On this board, we create this boogie man who lives in Louisville and controls the police and the media. Then does something totally unique in college football by hiring guys with low character and bringing in players who make bad decisions.

Charger....let me give it a try...cough cough.

Golly I am sure proud of how UL has built their program. You have to admire what they have done coming from nothing to being so wonderful.

Saint Petrino is a leader among men, gosh I hope we can out score them this year....not beat them that would sound kinda mean using the word beat.

"""Actually I hope we beat the chit out of them"""

Interesting comment from:
JDrum

Stoops used the word "sad" when describing Jones' dismissal, which struck me as a bit odd. Usually if a guy does something really bad, the coach is a bit put out and doesn't say "sad." I wonder what it involved? I've asked around to a few people in the know, but nobody seems to know much yet.

There's nothing honorable or admirable about the way that UofL has built its football program, or its athletic department in general under Jurich. As someone that holds two degrees form that fine institution, I have let them know under no uncertain terms that they'll never receive another dime from me as long as Petrino or Pitino casts a shadow on their sidelines. Building a program based on recruiting players that no other program would have is not something to be proud of, not to mention the moral and behavioral "ethics" of the P&P brothers.

Now, run along back to Petrino and let him know that Jones is there for the taking, where I'm sure he'll be a model citizen (it's tough to get in trouble where there are no rules) at UofL and quit (poorly) posing as a UK fan.
