I thought this was pretty cool.

Article : A Depression-Era Map Showing the Robust State of College Football in 1938

I want that.

Agreed, that's very cool. I think this just might be going in the man cave.

Funny to look at that and see how many schools in the Northeast played what was considered major football then as compared to now.....but understandable considering what kind of budgets you have to have these days.

Very cool. I'm old enough to remember some of those old alignments, and some school names which have long faded to lower levels of the NCAA. It really did take more imagination back then if you were a kid to try and think how a place like Austin, TX or Tucson, AZ would look. I well remember some old SW conference games, especially Texas and Arkansas. Both seemed like some place on the other side of the world lol. Now of course UK has a player coming from New Zealand. Then it's interesting to see some fairly big names these days not on that map. Arizona St, Boise St, and UL were 3 I noticed.

Florida State, Miami, Texas Tech,

And may I add, it's one of the more beautiful campuses in existance. Nestled up into the hills of Tennessee.....architecture remeniscent of Jolly Ole England....

They even had a tradition dating back to 1873, in which the better students wear gowns to class. Called the Order of the Gownsmen.....

How, very Harry Potter....

Agreed, was blown away by Suwanee as I just happened upon it traveling thru Rural Tennessee for work. Maybe the prettiest campus Ive ever seen, and that encompasses ALOT.

^There's also quite a bit to do around the area if you like the outdoors. Lots of hiking, camping, etc......they even have a number of good places to go rock climbing.

I didn't look at the link, can you order a print of this?

Florida State, Miami, Texas Tech,

Back then FSU was a small liberal arts college with about 400 students(250 men) and in 1901 the Florida Board of Education split the school up and made Florida State an all girls school. Men were not allowed back at FSU until 1946 and football started in 1947. That fact alone makes FSU's football record that much more impressive. They have 514 wins in only 68 seasons.

Miami didnt start playing football until 1926 and Texas Tech started its program in 1925.

Yeah, it's great for outdoorsy people. If you like civilization though it an be a rough going.

When I saw the thread I was thinking "Bill Curry" or "Joker Phillips"?

Never would have dreamed that Centre was in the SEC. Pretty cool.

Centre College was never in the SEC BUT was a national power. They were much better than any team in the south during the years of 1917-1924. They had a record of 63-7 in those years and had 2 first team all-americans. Everyone knows of Center upsetting the number 1 team in the nation (Harvard) 6-0 in 1921. However, many have forgotten that Centre also beat power TCU 63-7 in the Fort Worth Classic.

Really? I assume they can blow it up?

Sure, and I think they can send it to your home as well.....though I may be wrong on that one. One thing though, the amount/quality that they can blow up the image depends on the quality of the picture. You "may" not be able to blow it up very big before it starts to get very grainy in appearance.

They uploaded a fairly high resolution version of the pic on that article, 3214 x 2391 to be exact. That's 44.639 x 33.208 inches, but it's at 72 DPI so it won't look as good printed at 44 x 33, but you can print it smaller and it should come out well. If you want bigger than that you'll have to buy though. If you'll never be up close to it once you hang it then it might not be too bad printed full size then.

Uploaded it to Walmart's website. Looks like good quality at 20x30 (the largest they offer online) but part of the top and bottom border gets cut off. You'd be better off taking it in store if you want to do it at Walmart due to that.
