has anyone heard ANYTHING about these guys this year? I follow a lot of college basketball and don't hear a word about them.

It's crazy how they chose to go play at some random school and nobody hears a thing about them.

All are having pretty solid years, nothing spectacular but definitely respectable. And yet, no one cares because of where they go to school.

Rabb's a stud. As skinny as he is he'll be a monster in three years, and is a lottery pick right now. But yes if you are on the West coast a lot of people and media are asleep back East when you play.

You don't hear much about them because you don't follow there programs like you do kentucky's. That being said good luck to them. Kentucky is the goose that lays the golden egg so were always in the spotlight. For example if say Zimmerman had a game of 40/20 against a top ten team and we played and lost to a team like robert Morris rest assured ESPN would lead with us losing rather than his stellar night.

As for the four, they are out performing our 4 Fr by a big margin........sad to say..a man like Zimmerman would help out post much.....We have 1 Fr playing close to expectations.....that's all..

Unless you follow one of the teams with highly ranked/regarded freshmen, the only one you'd be hearing about is Ben Simmons

Actually, that's not accurate. ESPN says absolutely zero about most of those guys. I've heard Hawkins name on ESPN more than Zimmerman.

Jaylen Brown is gonna be a top 3 pick when all is said and done and I think I've seen him mentioned once.

The west coast, man. Kids, you'll disappear.

***Cal had been really improving before losing a tough 3-pt. difference at Oregon last night on ESPN2, 68-65....they certainly didn't lose because of Rabb or Brown who combined to go 15-20 from the floor w/ 17 Rebounds, 3 Steals & 37 Pts. between them.....only real negative being Brown's 4 TO's.

Maybe the lack of hype being because the main one pitching the West and/or the Pac-12 is Mr. Laid-Back, himself, Bill Walton.

Both Brown and Rabb are doing quite well at Cal. Putting up good numbers, their draft stock is soaring (brown now projected as a Top 3 pick), and the team is doing well and continues to improve. The Cal choice seems to have worked out nicely for them.

True to a point...I clearly follow UK closer than anyone else, but I follow and watch a lot of college basketball. I don't hear anything about any of these guys. I know Simmons is THE story but these guys (probably the west coast thing) are literally never mentioned on anything I watch or read. Ingram, Stone, Murray, Ellenson I hear a decent amount about.

At UK, UNC, Duke, KU, etc... these guys would get a lot of attention. Maybe it doesn't matter to them personally or to them professionally, just seems like they made some questionable (at best) and dumb (at worst) college decisions.

Malik Newman, I agree.
Stephen Zimmer, I agree.

Ivan Rabb and Jaylen Brown are on the west coast and of those guys, have the best chance to get some recognition. I mean, outside of half-a-dozen programs, how much pub does college basketball get until after the Super Bowl?

I think you mean you and some UK fans don't care. Rabb and Brown are getting plenty of attention in Pac-12 country. Most fans in the mountain west, and west coast care very little if at all about UK basketball and it's player's, and they see UK on TV as little as most SEC fans see their teams.

Jaylen Brown had my interest and I thought that would be our key piece.

Now had he committed to us, we would have a better offensive balance.

We likely don't get Murray IMO with brown here. The misses were primarily the bigs. Skal would look better with a big body banging around beside him in the post.

Newman has been fairly solid at MSU, shooting numbers are good enough across the board, well FG % could be a tad better.

Name at the top there Tyler Dorsey, we recruited him for a minute. Dude has some game at Oregon.

I think we have two who are playing to our expectations including Mathews. To be fair, the problem might have more to do with our expectations. Lol

there is really no reason for the mnt west and west coast in general to give a flip about UK, there is enough schools and fan bases locally. New Mexico colleges have passionate fans and are in the top 20 for attendance, as is UNLV and Arizona San Diego St is right there too. BYU is in the top 15, Colorado, Oregon,Utah and Utah St are in the top 50.

Most of our expectations anyway. There were a couple on here who said Matthews was underrated and would be one-and-done. Haven't seen them say that lately.

Of all the recruits that went elsewhere, I have to say Caleb Swanigan would have benefited us the most. He is precisely the kind of player we need. The problem is the style of play at Purdue probably fits him better.
