Malachi Moreno and Great Crossing advance to state championship game with Bowling Green

BGHS was our arch-rival when I was in high school (about 100 years ago). We beat them 3 straight years in football and 3 straight years in basketball when I was a sophomore, junior, and senior.

Glad to hear that Moreno is doing well. I hope he takes care of the Purples tonight and gets his State Tournament championship !

From Courier Journal---Moreno — McDonald’s All-American, Kentucky Mr. Basketball and University of Kentucky signee — posted 23 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks to lead the Warhawks to a 71-61 victory over Bowling Green in Saturday’s championship game of the UK HealthCare Sweet 16 in front of 12,222 fans at Rupp Arena
I didn’t know they were the Warhawks … just assumed Buffaloes.

Were you all still using peach baskets back in those days?😁

Moreno needs to hit the gym hard this summer. Plenty of months before the season starts yo add 10-15lbs and fill those sleeves out a little better.
Agree. it's true with Moreno and generally going to be the case that incoming freshmen need to work on their strength and conditioning as their bodies continue to mature. But Moreno is already 230 lbs. (10 more lbs., I believe, than Anthony Davis played at his freshman year). The thing I would most like to see is for him to get his shot out in front of his head rather than cocked back behind his head, but I doubt that form changes. Still, a heck of a Center talent to build on.
