Make it make sense

There is no sense when discussing teams in college. Only a few years do teams pretty much do what we want them to do, win em all or only lose a game or 3. This year Auburn has been that team as well as Bama in the SEC. But you cannot make sense out of any of it.

Even great teams have off days. Look at the 1996 Wildcats when they played Mississippi State in the SEC tournament.

And Mississippi State was throwing in all kinds of junk in that game. Really frustrating to watch live.

18-22 kids, man. The people going nuts over the performance of kids is creepy stuff.
It's pretty condescending that you think 21 and 22-year-olds are kids. That goes for 18 and 19 year olds as well. People in that age category saved the world twice from Germany. I'm sure they'd be insulted if they heard somebody like you calling them children.

Man, condescending is a great word for CSB. Every single post of his is about as preachy as it gets. Dude thinks his 💩 doesn’t stink.

Make sense of it? Like baseball, basketball is a really random sport where anything can happen from game to game. It's why I stick to betting on NCAAF and the NFL, with a few exceptions like University Six under Kenny Payne.

In sports, the best team does not always win. Simple!!!!
So when people say “we can’t beat…” or “we can’t lose to…” they are being dumb.
This is why I always thing of each game we have a probability of X% to win that game.

We went into UT without key players and won.

We are way better than Arkansas but lost relatively handily at home.

We play UT Tuesday - which UT will show up? I think we roll because I have a feeling today we may have turned the corner on defense. We need that in-your-grill mentality on the perimeter like we had today, for the rest of the year. Butler seemed to trigger something in others, especially Jaxson and Oweh. Carr was high energy today as well, and then Brea is turning into a surprise of an assist guy.

But the biggest growth to me this year has been Garrison and Williams. They have turned it on.

UF, Aub, Bama are all 3 legit F4 teams.

UK and UT are capable of a F4 run but probably a slight step below as they can beat anyone but are more susceptible to a bad matchup type game in an earlier round
It’s crazy there are at least 5 teams who can make a case for a F4 run and about 3-4 others who could get hot and do it in one conference.

The SEC has had an historic dominating season of any conference in the history of college basketball, arguably. No conference in history has had from top to bottom, the most impressive performance on court so far this year.

It would stand to reason the SEC could get one or more teams into the Final Four, and the highest seeded SEC teams will presumably be a one seed. The SEC may have 2 or even 3 number one seeds in the NCAA tournament. The conference will send many teams to the tournament and they will be seeded well.

Unless the SEC collectively falls flat and chokes, one would presume to think the conference will send at least one team to the final four. So for the season, it's been awesome watching SEC hoops !

Duke will get their #1 overall seed. Cooper Flagg mania ! Upsets and surprises will ensue with March Madness. Try to position yourself as well as you can to prepare for it. ultra level playing field in the new NIL and portal era

as other posters have said : It's all about the matchups... and the other good observations about the conference are valid as well.

Auburn to me seems clearly a cut above everyone. But they can be beaten. Alabama looks strong again this year.

Houston & Iowa State look as good as anyone else too. Tom Izzo is a MASTER. My hat's tipped for him. Same for Pitino. Amazing. Of those, one or more I can see making a Final Four run. Yes, St. John's could make a fairy tale run. And it won't be such a fairy tale to me, if it were to happen. That's march madness.

SAME FOR KENTUCKY. I love our team. LOVE our direction, we still make the joint hop with action when we come to the game! When we're in town ? Let's rock! Bring it on !

BBN ..... I call upon the BLUE MIST ! and watch it descend ! And KNOW it still does !

Same now as it ever has been as far as I am concerned.... with an ULTRA level playing field, ncaa tournament storyline twists, and a new era of NIL and the portal .... it's as wide open as your pocketbook and imagination can take you.

I don't know where it ends this season for us, but it might end up epic great. I'm just happy to see us still commanding the respect and getting the best shots from our opponents. It's been great for me. It's going to be a GODSEND to watch Kentucky under Pope here on out, compared to what we had suffered with Cal, imho.

but otherwise, I can't try to make much more sense.

tl;dr version :

SEC is historically great
Duke & Cooper Flagg ... he was only seventeen !
March Madness ultra level playing field
all about the matchups
UK getting a great year in such trying circumstances - truly overcoming many things

Go Big Blue !

PS - Pope still Coach of the Year for me. He just uplifts me

While true, looking back on it now, I think the 96' (and 2012) teams losing in the SEC tournament finals in both NCAA tournament title runs, those losses were the singular most important games in both of those years for them to have lost.

In my mind, those losses became the springboard to greatness for both of those teams. Unquestionably both teams were number one seeds. Both seasons they were favored for a Final Four and a title shot. Overwhelmingly successful seasons in their own right. Final Fours looked to have been at the very least, the minimum level of greatness they would achieve.

And at the most precise point in time and circumstances, after ALL the great games they played, and BOTH teams had only lost those games in the SEC tournament at that time ... amazing. There's a lesson to be seen in how that happened. It can mean a lot of things, looking at both seasons. If you look at it in its totality.

I don't know how anyone else feels about it, but I think the best seasons Kentucky basketball has is when the SEC has at least one or two or more final four caliber teams and even title contenders. This year is insanely cool.

And in all the circumstances with Pope coming in and so quickly having to move on from CCC ? To have already had the season we have had ? I love it ! We're kicking ass and taking names. And taking a bludgeoning for it.

So bring it on! We're going to get healthy, stronger. These guys have proven they can beat the best out there this year.

Duke is about to be #1. We beat them this year. Just to remind folk. (Cooper Flagg is now 18 **gasp**)

We've beaten Florida, Duke, Tennessee, Gonzaga, Lil Brother, MSU on the road, a dern good Texas A&M team. Took our lumps against Clemson, OSU, at UGA, at home to a great Bama team. Lost in miserable gym to a revamped Vandy team on the rise.... no shame in losing there. A tough Ole Miss team, theyre legit, we got smacked by in a down moment.

the best part of all this is that there's so much more left to see unfold !

March still has yet to begin !

ack..... there I go again.

tl;dr version

1) losing in the SEC tournaments in 96 and 12' were a springboard for us to overcome and rise to greatness

2) it's been a good year this year, we've had a strong year in the toughest conference season ever for anyone

3) enjoy it while we got it this year ! March is yet to come !
