watching a johnny jones team play for it's tournament life. is interesting lol.

jones for a&m will be a tough matchup for us.

Weird that the worst coach in history is in 1st place in the SEC.
A player like Simmons, surrounded by veterans, can overcome Johnny Jones.

Their losses are coming. Eventually they have to play some games away from home. I swear every game I see them play is in Baton Rouge.

fyi this was a game thread that should have been deleted, not a call out on johnny jones particularly, although i agree he is pretty bad. when he had that martin/mickey team he showed me that.

Yes, Martin and Mickey, SEC legends. They were basically Shaq and Chris Jackson.

ng your mom or something. How do guys constantly trash people then get sensitive when someone calls you out?[/QUOTE]
Oh yeah, he banged my mom. LMAO. If anyone here is defensive it's you. You seem to have an issue with our opinions of JJ. Go to the LSU board and support him if it bothers you that much.

you really want to argue this anyway after what i said? ok. yeah, he has underachieved with his talent. martin was a macdonald's all-america. and mickey was four star and led the sec in double doubles at one point. that class included quarterman (four star) was stacked. he had hickey and o'bryant too his first year with that class and they went 20-14.

He's had one McDonald's All American and a 4 star? Oh my, how did he not make a Final Four? 10 years from now when we look back on this were gonna wonder how he only went 20-and 14 with that McDonald's All American and 4 star player. Especially at an elite basketball program like LSU.

on that team two macdonalds all-americans with multiple four star players. so yeah.

You would have a point if he ran a one and done system like Cal does but he has had nothing but seasoned veterans that came to him as 4 stars.
You can't tell me the rosters he has had weren't talented.
This team he has here is projected as an 11 seed. A good coach would have THAT squad competing for a 4 seed at worst. Ben Simmons is a game changer that has very good talent around him that are seasoned veterans.

Seasoned vetrans?

Seasoned vetrans? LSU starts 2 freshmen, 1 sophomore, 1 junior, 1 senior. We started 2 freshmen, 1 sophomore, 1 junior, 1 senior vs them, all 5 star guys. Simmons was in foul trouble and had a relatively pedestrian 14 points 10 rebound game. How on earth did we lose to Johnny Jones considering all that?

Those two freshmen aren't scrubs my friend. One is the #1 pick in the draft and Blakeny is a 5 star stud. Hornsby and Quarterman are seasoned veterans. I don't see how you can argue that.
Any team that has Simmons and that cast should not be an 11 seed. That's if they actually get in.

As an LSU Bball fan....jones isnt gonna be considered an elite coach in my view. However, i dont believe he is as bad as many on this board think he is. His first year he had J.O.B. and hickey as sophmores...thats it..finished 19-12. 2nd year he added martin, mickey, and quarterman..lost about 5 games in last minute or two...finished 20-14. Last year he had the 3 sophmores and newcomer hornsby...lost about 6 or 7 games by 6 pts or less. Team had sweet 16 to elite 8 potential but failed to accomplish anything ..finished 22-11. This season, they stared slow due to hornsby missing first seven games and victor the first 8. 12- 5 with full compliment of players.
So, for those that think he is the worst coach in the s.e.c. i disagree..did he drop the ball last year? Yes!!

i dont pay attenion to who is a bad coach or the worst. i could tell you about some coaches failures come tournament time, nothing about their in game adjustments or lack thereof. im only concerned with my team when the game is being played.

Mark Fox and Billy Kennedy for starters. They've been around about the same amount of time as Jones and have a worse record. I'm sure you'll move the goalposts and say record doesn't matter though.

Continually losing close games is a direct reflection of poor coaching .

LSU has done the least with the most though. Neither of those coaches have had near as much talent.

i broke it down in earlier post...last year was it. i will never understand why everyone thinks the LSU teams jones has had have had such overwhelming talent. they have had some good players but quality depth has always been an issue.

No, that's your opinion, I've got no problem with it. I'm not sure if either of those coaches could do better with the roster JJ has right now because they've never had a player like Simmons.
I just think Simmons is a once in a decade talent that is not being utilized properly and could very well miss the tournament.
Could you imagine Cal's critics if UK misses the NCAA tournament with AD on the roster?
