Looks like Stoops made a good decision

I don't think Stoops asked him to leave. Just a couple of days before he entered the portal, Hamden was bragging on him. Maybe he did something that we don't know about and was asked to leave the team, but that is not what was seen publicly.

I saw him play twice in high school. Loved his athleticism, hands, and toughness. The negatives....

* Pahokee lost their starting QB on the first drive against Delray Atlantic. The backup was a sophomore. On one play, the QB didn't see that Gilmore was open and scrambled. He fumbled and Atlantic recovered. As the offense was coming off the field, Gilmore was up in the face of his young QB, ripping him a new one. When he reached the sidelines, Gilmore's coach took him to the bench, gave him a good ass chewing and held him out for a series, then went over to his QB and tried to calm him down.

* For someone who I found to be super competitive, I found it odd that on running or quick, predetermined pass routes that didn't involve him, Gilmore was like a statue. He didn't attempt to sell a pass route or block, unless it was a running play coming towards him.

Lots of ability with Gilmore, but apparently not much going on upstairs.

I watched Barion do some of those same things while at UK. Addition by subtraction with both of them IMO. Receivers are notoriously ego driven but when it hurts the team, they can take that elsewhere.

Would show desperation on Stoop's part IMO. If you're trying to rebuild the culture of the locker room, bringing Gilmore back doesn't seem wise to me.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Stoops is in a desperate situation.

We are apparently considering doing exactly that.
I am almost certain Gilmore is barely 18. If Stoops asks him back I would talk to him about what is expected of him. If he doesn’t hold up his end he should be shown the door!!

Felt the same way and said so when Gilmore left. Hated it for his talent but noticed a growing "problem attitude" with him I didnt like and we the one thing this program needed was an attitude reset IMO.
