Looking ahead to Mizzou

Last September they lost at home to Indiana. Indiana.

still won the SEC East, though. They will be the best coached team we face this season, won't beat themselves. Watched a little of the UConn game while tailgating, their QB situation is interesting. they benched Mauk in favor of a true freshmen who seemed to be an accurate thrower but very immobile to close out the game. Our D rushes the passer against him like they did Greir and we will eat them alive.

Very concerned about the offense like everyone else. all starts on the O line, from my perspective Big George AA was overwealmed against Florida, and in response we had a cavalcade of changes at RT and other spots to try and compensate. hard to play QB when you are more worried about the rush folks. Mizzou always has great D linemen, the tackles for loss stat mentioned above is true to form for them.

Dawson's gotta have some quick hitter runs/passes against their knifing penetrating style, burn them, and dont make our shaky O line try and block for a 5 step/7 step drop pass pattern that is developing 20+ yards downfield.

Agree with everything with one exception: Indiana is a good team nowadays. Still a shocking loss last season.

For whatever reason, we've yet to stop a mobile QB in my lifetime. I hope Sat is that day.

Agreed. The other thing is that Missouri will have a good D-Line, but it's not going to be the same one from last year. Of their four best players last year on the line, two went to the NFL, one was lost in the off-season to a serious injury, and the other was kicked off the team. This is not the Florida defense; not even comparable to the Florida D-line and secondary, though probably better at linebacker.

I have a lot of respect for this team, and for the coach. They've had two really good years in the SEC; what a lot of people have apparently forgotten is that they've also had one very bad year in the SEC. It's not written in stone that every single Missouri team in future history is always going to be the Missouri of 2013/2014. I have little doubt, that we'll get a better performance from them than UConn did, so this will be a very tough game but there's also a reason that we were underdogs against Florida and not against Missouri. They've kicked our butts three straight years, but every single time over those three years they had a clearly better team (even in 2013; when they were mediocre, we were awful). This is the first year that, at a minimum, we're close to being as good, and it's at home.

I watched most of your game against Florida but I really didn't analyze Florida's defense so I can't make a comparison to ours.

However, our defense is looking pretty solid. Even Pinkel is saying it might be the best back 7 he's had yet. We were really worried about the defensive line due to the losses you mention but the others guys filling in are really exceeding our best expectations for them. We're pretty giddy so far but both SEMO and UConn are offensively challenged teams as you all likely know too.

Kentucky is going to give us our biggest test to date. Really, about anything could happen in this game and not surprise me. I'm guessing its going to be a low scoring grind for both teams but its just a guess.

I think your best bet is to limit turnovers on your end while snagging a couple off of us. Turnovers are going to be huge with both our team's strong defensive play and offensive warts. I would keep the ball on the ground, work the clock and not take any huge risks. You'll see that our defensive line can get after the QB. Its a huge strength of ours. Punt on fourth down and pin us back. On defense, put a spy on Mauk and you have to contain and rattle him. Force him into making big mistakes. If that's working, plan on seeing our freshman come in. He won't be a running threat.
