Look who is in the portal now!

Do you “pony up” for a dude that’s going to have Tommy John’s surgery? Pretty big gamble.
It's only a partial tear, which is the reason for the quick recovery time(6-12 weeks). Everything you read says the prognosis is quite high for 100% heal.

That’s way too low.

DJ Ugsbalsncnehd the transfer who went to FSU got about $800K. Cam Ward got almost a million.

The numbers are getting up to seven figures now.
I think he likes exotic cars - isn’t there an Italian dealership here in town to possibly help seal the deal?

Beck may set an NIL record. If not, he will be close. The market for QBs is large and Beck was, on the whole, productive at UGA. We do not know how well liked he was at UGA but Tom Brady was not well liked at Michigan. Winning creates lots of good will. Let there be no doubt. Beck is not going to UK. Stoops' priority at the moment is a LT. He will have to raise more money before the spring window. Stoops is not quite running out of money yet, but he cannot blow the whole wad on Beck. Why would Beck want to play for a run oriented offense anyway?
Naw I dont think he comes close myself. The injury on top of a clear decline this year he's on the board but not at the top anymore. If the portal was a used car thing, he's not a 2024 Lamborghini . . . more of a 2023 Audi with minor body damange on CarFox.

Does UGA stand by Stockton or do they add a QB to their room? Most expected Beck to be gone next year. Do they have their man?
Stockton looked real good in his 1.5 games. They didn’t lose bc him at all

I’d imagine if they add a big name portal guy that he hits the portal and lands in a good spot.

I could see them standing by him and grooming a 5star for a single year w promises the reigns are his after Stockton

It’ll be interesting to see which way they go tho. Obviously they watched him way more in practice and have more data points than we do

Regardless of how confident they are in Stockton, they don’t have a whole lot of options right now. All the portal QBs of the caliber that could be seen as an upgrade have already gone somewhere else. The one possible wild card remaining would be if Ewers hits the portal after Texas finishes their playoff run.

Good deal for him. Who wouldn't want to be 22 and be in Miami as a rich QB with a hot girlfriend? Short of playing in Hawaii, I'd say that's pretty ideal.

Do y’all think we can get him for up to $750K?

G Ed tting 4m for ine year. He is talented, very talented. If his arm is healthy I expect him to light up the ACC. With the offense the U runs and the defenses he will face i think he has some big numbers, if he can keep his mind on football.

Not sure that last part is really required at Miami. They collapse every year when it matters. I haven't seen a Miami team with a killer instinct in a long time.

May be right, he is really investing in his personal relationship and I get that may be what he needs to do. But she showed up when he was a projected 1st rounder, he isn't that today and why he hit the portal. Will she be around if he is undrafted free agent?

Several online reports are saying Beck gets $4 million from Miami.

If his arm is healthy, Beck's effect on the ACC might be dominant. He will have a good OL and good WRs at Miami, with a non-SEC schedule. But Miami is one one of relatively few schools for which $4 million in NIL for a QB would make rational sense.

If I am Stoops, I am focusing on a LT now. But the OT market has gotten inflated beyond belief during this portal window. My friend in Georgetown, a business owner and big NIL donor, tells me 16 new transfer portal commitments have used up almost all available NIL money and they just might have room left for the Cooley brothers who are scheduled to visit if our storm doesn't force a postponement. The plan is to go back to the big donors and raise more $$ for the spring portal window. They still need a starting LT and could use another WR. LTs are expensive.

Nobody needs to be reminded that Stoops said he was in the best shape ever with NIL. He was. It was the truth. But the market for some positions like LT and DL got inflated more than ever during this portal window. UK has a big transfer class, and a good one. But money doesn't grow on trees.

Some posters declare UK "cannot compete" in NIL. Let's blow the whistle on that. How many of those posters are contributing? The BBN is everywhere. You can watch any road game or travel game. There were UK fans all over the arena in Seattle and MSG. We have a huge, successful, affluent fan base. From that standpoint, UK actually holds demographic advantages over most schools. It is fallacious to think MO, SCar, OK, Ole Miss, or even Auburn hold demographic advantages over UK when it comes to NIL. What is needed here is more participation. Say what you will, but choose to be part of the solution. There isn't anyone here who can't afford to forego a couple of pizzas and a six-pack to send that money to 15 instead. Either you will or you won't. But, at Auburn, OK, MO, and Ole Miss, the fan bases are not bigger or better off than we are. But those fan bases have more conviction. And don't use this to complain about Stoops or Barnhart. And don't pretend buying a t-shirt equates to NIL participation. At these other schools, these aren't issues. They support their programs in mass, rain or shine. And if you know fans in those other fan bases, you know in your heart I speak the truth. Finger pointing must stop and everyone must try harder.

Miami is destined to be a player in the new era of football.

They’ve always had the money and can legally spend it now. Combine that with the other things they’ve always had like access to talent, destination port city, weather, pretty easy conference road…

Beck is a very good QB. Has occasionally flashed great. If not for injury I think he’d declare. Weak draft class and he’s been a solid prospect for 2 years.

Makes sense for UGA to let him walk. Regardless of whether or not he’s liked or healthy.

We’re seeing these very productive multi year starting QBs walk to other programs because why pay them if you have a decent prospect like Stockton ready to go? Pay Beck 4 mil for a year, or maybe lock Stockton in for 2-3 for the same price…if that?

This is the professional strategy that we’re going to start seeing just like in the league.

Can’t just view it as greed on part of players. It’s also the team wanting to pinch pennies and spread them out.

Beck's not going to do any better at UGA than he has already.

He's not going to increase his marketing potential there any more than he already has.

I don't know if he has NFL potential. Admittedly above my pay grade, but I don't see it.

Best bet for him is to find a place with great receivers, no defenses, and a network to market for him like ESPN does for the ACC and others.

The problem with comparing UK to those schools is that those schools don't have UK basketball competing with their football program. I have no idea how much $$$ is directed to both programs here but I do know what I hear from Matt Jones on KSR. He consistently says that UK football will never match the nil $$$ that basketball will always command. I am not stating this perspective - he is.

The question is why doesn’t UK have a LT that they have been grooming to take over the position? They are having to scrounge the portal for one for 3 yrs?
they thought they got 2 in ‘22. Goodwin was prob more of a RT and left after a year. Hall got injured and had to retire. Hard to over come that. That and missing on every LT they have recruited since

If they can get the rest of the OLine in better shape it takes some of the stress off of the LT spot. They can use the TE and RB to help on pass plays. The problem they have had the last two years is leaks all over the line, you can't scheme around that.
