No other reason on God’s green earth. It took me longer than it should have but when you are looking for a reason why someone said or did something that didnt make much sense at face value and was ultimately devisive in nature, the answer is money (most of the time).
The 2 programs are now in competition for the state’s resources.
This is much deeper than a practice facility.

There is enough for both. Cal just sometimes steps in it.

Not sure NIL is as big a deal in BB. If $ is the major thing there are foreign leagues or even the developmental league as options, plus if the kid is that big of a demand he is a 1 year guy. Nowhere for a football player to go and 3 years before he can get NFL.
Don't agree here at all.

- It is open knowledge kids in bball transfer portal are shopping themselves for NIL $$$ and landing where the best bag of money is at.
- You don't think top 10 kids like having 6 to 7 figure deals for their 1 year of college? We are bidding against Gleague deals and the like.

So yeah the program are bidding for similar pot of resources....but still doesn't excuse Cal acting like a total whinny baby as usual.

Both coaches get on my nerves. Style of play is often boring at times. Get off of Twitter and get on a treadmill, you two.
Salty for the win. Both coaches have more good than bad and need to eat salad but can be boring af.

Cal takes the best talent and when things get tough, he starts grinding vs letting his guys make plays. That lost many a tournament game we should have won.

Stoops hates the forward pass, hates blitzing, and wants to play a muddied up, slowed down game hoping to steal the win at the end. That was nice when we had mid-major talent but it lowers the ceiling now that we have some dudes

I agree. Stoops is hurting UK football. He needs to learn how to recruit better, be better at player development. Maybe when he improves UK can finally become a program that competes in the best college football conference! He should have kept his mouth shut and licked the basketball coach’s shiny loafers.

For the record, I’d rather win 27-24 than lose 48-45. I really believe some posters just miss the coal horn going off and watching the mascot do push-ups more than they like to win!

Way to go, Karen. Assume you're not smart enough to comprehend my post.

"Karen" now that's laughable. Tell me what I missed by this quote.

You may have been bragging on Stoops and I just missed it.

I will always defend "wins" against "style of play." Stoops has figured out how to win at a school that very few people thought possible. (Listen/read to the other SEC talking heads.) I just listened to "Mr SEC, Tony Barnhart" talk about Stoops doing what people considered to be "impossible" at UK.

How UK gets to the very top is another discussion. I agree the style under Gran could not get us there. (I don't think that was Gran's fault, but he and Stoops both knew Gran got labeled with that on the recruiting trail.) The transition to last year's offense answered your complaint about the offense. Your desire for blitzing gives up the home-run play. I can list you several top 5 college and NFL coaches and coordinators that blitz very few times a game.

Your entire post is summing up what I said. The guy muddied it up and played slow, play not to lose, football because that's what it took. Now that we are getting better players he needs to figure out what the next step is because it appears he's not much for being the aggressor.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think being able to run the ball and playing excellent defense is "playing not to lose." Nor, do I think he should have kept quiet this week. I agree that we have to be able to put up points and have a balanced offense to get to next level. The Coen hire was a home-run and Stoops' way of addressing the need. I hope transition to new OC goes well.

The crazy thing is, I'm not a Cal-hater and usually laugh when I read the Cal hate. I'm not a basketball -vs- football guy, nor do I think most fans are. It's normal to have a preference, but I don't think most people want to see the other sport fail. But, this week is 110% on Cal. The one statement schools use against Stoops in recruiting is the very phrase Cal used this week. It was beyond "dumb." Mitch can make some comments today, but Cal is the only one that can really be intentional about making this go away. Sincere attempt to make this go away will require some humility on Cal's part, and I have little confidence he has that in him.

Peace

Hate that term "play not to lose". When you don't have the weapons your best chance to win is control the clock, play sound defense, limit mistakes. Has nothing to do with playing not to lose or playing scared

Maybe saltier than I thought. Grow Up. You should do a three way crybaby fest with Stoops and Cal.

I have a very good feeling that Stoops would not have said anything if Cal had kept his yap shut about Stoops FB team..

Now it's up to Cal and Barney to clean this crap up...

Cal is jealous that he's being upstaged by a football coach at UK. It was cute when he was winning big and 6 wins a big deal in football. Now he's 2nd fiddle and knows it. I've seen children throw a tantrum before and it looked much like this.
