I graduated from UK with an education based on science and math. In the development of my thought process, I was taught a method of developing a product by eliminating the limiting factors to achieve the yields you want. In this process sometimes some things can not be addressed immediately as more pressing problems need to first be taken out of the equation.
In looking at how this applies to our beloved football program, I would submit to you, that our most limiting factor with our rebuilding program is the level of talent compared to our main competition...the SEC. I have been very impressed with the effort and intensity that our coaches have put into addressing this problem. Many of the recruits that we have convinced to give us a look aren't even aware of our program when the process starts, but the coaches have been able to go into many areas and get many kids to at least take a look at us. The amount of time, tireless effort, and dedication that it takes is grueling and very tedious since we are trying to recruit against household names in the football word. It is like a mom and pop bakery fighting against Krispy Kreme for market share. It would be very hard for any fan to deny the success that the coaches have exhibited in this arena.
Unfortunately this may have had an effect on other areas of the rebuild process, but certainly was a no brainer when trying to figure out where to start. There will be many setbacks and growing pains during this process and many of us will handle them badly, but I can't help but believe we are on the right track.
Therefore I hope that many of you will take this into consideration when evaluating where we are in our rebuilding efforts. As we get more and more talent like we have been getting depth, toughness, experience, on field coaching, play calling, and winning (all limiting factors somewhere in the chain reaction) will be addressed and be much easier to achieve. We all want the same results! I truly hope we can all do it together as a family.
