Pull these 2 aside and simply demand they lead this group and become UK’s dynamic duo. Make them live up to that expectation.

Two 6 7 wings that should both get minimum high teens in each game. Score approx 40 in total. Get 5 rebounds per game each. Toughen up! Wade in and rebound. Play loose.
Rather see both foul out with each guy shooting a minimum of 14 tries each and battling than 3pts and 1 rebound.
CMP run some plays/screening for Brea so he’s not always shooting a step back over a defender. Drive it and get to the line. Both can dunk get to the rim and take the contact.
Like to see those 2 as very experienced last go around guys grab hold of this team by the neck and drag them along.
Don’t care about the past let’s go forward from here. Become Badasses. Will help your pro aspirations becoming leaders. Want it guys.

And while he's at it pull Williams and Garrison aside and say you two guys are 7-footers in case you hadn't noticed. You two combined should be averaging 20 RPG. Stop waiting to see if the shot is missed before you decide to go after the rebound. Assume EVERY shot is a miss and get your collective @$$e$ in position to rebound the ball.

No C combination has averaged 20rpg in over 50 years.
And Williams actually does rebound well (top 5?at UK past 25 years), but yeah Garrison is not a good rebounder at all.

Here's going to be the million dollar question: Is Mark Pope the type of coach to pull players aside, like this?

He can't be TOO much of a player's coach and everyone's friend. He's got to crawl up into some asses. I'll giove him this year, because it's all so knew to him. But he's got to realize that he's the coach, and it's his system that is making the players thrive.. it's also his own paycheck affected by the players. There's just too many seemingly lazy guys out there right now.

Williams is not a good rebounder.......he never rebounds outside of his spot. He doesn't attack to get rebounds, he waits fof them to come to him. As big and strong as he is, he should be knocking people out of his way to get the ball.

Like the idea, but I’m thinking Jax and Koby are the type of guys who aren’t comfortable with being aggressive and leading a group. Hope I’m wrong.
I would love for OP’s desire to come true.
But I have just watched to many plays on both ends that reveal the lack of dog in these two. Great young men, good players, but are simply not very tough. Especially on D.

Don't tell some here that. Oscar didn't average that per 40 and he's the best rebounder we've seen since we least the 90s. Rebound more? I'm behind that. 20 per game? This isn't Playstation😉

I'd like to see them run the offense they were told to run earlier in the season. You don't need supreme talent to set a damn screen make defenders chase you across the court. EFFORT.

Neither gonna D up tight , neither gonna rebound , esp Brea . It’s just wishful thinking . Might be best to tell them to out score the opponent. Play to your strengths- as a team we are no longer getting up enough 3s . Teams are taking it away and daring us to drive .

With Butler out. I think vs UT I might would play Zone (and I usually don’t like zone) but tightly guard Lanier outside the 3pt line. The goal would be to limit Ziegler penetration.
Maybe something gimmicky: box/1 w/ robinson (since he's our weakest rebounder) chasing Lanier; or triangle/2 w/ ziegler getting the extra defender as well as Lanier. Something along those lines. I can't see Travis staying in front of Ziegler at all, and he's looking at getting 30+ minutes tonight

I don't disagree with this aspiration, but ... I can't in my wildest dreams imagine Jaxson Robinson rising to such a challenge. He may be the most passive athlete I have ever seen play in any college-level sport, and he is certainly the most passive player I've ever seen in any sport who has the ability to play the game that Robinson apparently has. He's clearly a good shooter, and he appears to have the court speed and quickness. He also appears to have the necessary overall athleticism. But IMHO he will never, ever, rise to the challenge that you expressed. Kobe Brea ... maybe. Robinson ... never in my wildest dreams !
Nevertheless ... Go 'Cats !

Exactly. We need our offense to score a bunch, and that won't happen with the 1 on 1 nonsense.

Interesting that UT assistant coach said that MP has gotten his players to play "pretty hard for him." Obviously this is one of our problems. We get outhustled on the boards, do not always dive for loose balls and not as physical as most SEC teams. Oweh and Butler are exceptions but all the other older guys are not playing at the speed or physicality of our opponents. Lot of these close games comes down to who has the bigger heart. It is something hard for a coach to instill, a player is just that way or they are not. Shooting skills and intensity level should always be at the top of our wants in recruiting. All the other stuff you can coach and make them better.

I struggle to think of any past 6’7 players that were as afraid of contact as these two.

When I say demand I mean really CHALLENGE those 2. Get into them. I don’t care if they foul out just get after it. Fight. Talent is there don’t waste it. We need you to become leaders.

Those two should combine for a minimum of 30 plus pts 10 plus rebounds. Play tough defense, rebound at 6 7, be vocal, play with confidence. It’s your last go around and you are wearing the best jersey in college basketball. Go out in a blaze. Now’s the time guys. You both have the experience. Don’t want to look back after it’s over and wish you did more. Get it done now.

I would love to see Brea be a little tougher when he drives. He gets decent looks around the rim because defenders are so tight to him on the perimeter, but half the time he gets blocked or tries some floater that falls short. Take it to the rim and look for contact!

Koby was a little better at that last night. Dunk and a pull up j. Actually shot some free throws. Got screwed on his clean block down low but I think he got 2 other blocks.

Hope he and Jaxon go DA and Mercer ( as best they can) as our bookend wings going forward! Every game with those type combined stats.

Brea's block was as clean as a whistle. How could a ref not see that being that close to the action?

Maybe a better goal is for the PF/C combo to average 25-26 rebounds/game...the current combined reb/game for Carr/Williams/BG is right at 19/gm. So, asking each of those guys to get 2 more per game is a tangible, achievable goal.

Just last night against UT... Williams/BG/Almonor had 19 rebounds... put Carr in the mix, and it should easily get to 25 or so.

Garrison has averaged only 3 rebounds/game in SEC play with only 2 rebounds last night... that MUST improve. Although, to be fair, misses from beyond the arc equal long rebounds, so the wings/guards should have higher rebounding numbers when that happens. I think I read that UT missed a few 3s... anyone else hear/see that? 🤣
