Liam Coen’s #1 priority

Told you guys I would be back on the 11th

If my car had not kept overheating, and Stafford had kept oil in it, and If the homeys hadn’t ripped the UHaul, I would have made it then.

It’s still sitting under a bridge in Compton

I thought it was all Levis fault from what I read on here? You would think that he would have said the QB graduating would of fixed all the OL problems. All the experts on here said it was all the Qbs fault.

You're surprised the oc didn't point out all the flaws of the outgoing QB that's vying for top pick in the draft?

This thread was all teed up for your normal "yenser stole my lunch money" post. I'm disappointed

You must be Yenser's mom. Never seen anyone so obsessed with defending an
underperforming coach. I've not personally
mentioned Yenser's name in two months and you keep coming on here defending the guy everytime I post something. I'm sorry I pointed out that he coached at Kansas for three years and they won three games. I hated that I mentioned the guy accepted a high school job as a coordinator after he got fired at Kansas. Sorry to post facts on here.

I'm glad you pointed that out because I didn't know his history. After the 50th copy/paste though it was over the top.

I didn't defend him. I said midseason I thought he was leaving because he came to coach wide zone and we went back to inside zone. Then a few games later I raised serious concerns about the lack of communication I saw and the weird way they tried to block a twist.

Then the last four games they played really well. Reportedly there was a simplification in the offense. Maybe that made the difference? Whatever it was, it was a really huge leap forward and very promising.

What I absolutely pointed out the last two years was the QB could never recognize a blitz and always held the ball too long. It gave the casual fan the impression the OL was at fault when it was vastly the fault of the QB.

I am not a fan, either. (You can go back and read my posts, but no need).

My thought was that a new OC would pick his OL coach....that didn't happen. So, did Stoops guarantee him (Yenser) at least two years? I dunno, as this seems odd, but we've seen crazier things in modern day, college contracts.

Absolutely, all things OL related are on the OL coach.... It's his personnel, and if it doesn't match to the blocking schemes or OC plays, then it needs to be changed in Spring Practice, and at the very least identified in Fall camp and corrected.... Not 8 games into the season...

Our OL was putrid... and much of it had nothing to do with personnel, it seemed.

He was hired before coen left so coen at least had input and was probably the person who targeted yenser.

Coen has the staff he wants, and will have discretion to manage it as he thinks best. Coen was responsible for Scott Woodward's hire. Before he got the offer from the Rams, Coen gave the go ahead to hire Yenser and probably even recommended him. I think that is the reason Yenser is still on the staff. We can assume Coen gave the go ahead to hire Boulware, and that TRob's decision to come back was informed by Coen coming back. Coen and Stoops were in agreement about everything at least a month before Coen was officially announced by Kentucky. That means the offensive recruits like Wilcox and Anderson and the transfers like Leary and Davis knew Coen would be back at Kentucky well before we knew. All of this was done that way out of respect for Sean McVay. All the time, Coen was watching tape of Kentucky's season. No doubt Coen has a good idea about what Kattis, Dingle, Key, and Brown bring to the table, and Coen was an early participant in Porter's recruitment before going to LA.

Agree with all except him watching tape. He said in his PC that he was just now starting to watch tape on last year. Makes sense because no doubt NFL oc was way more than a full time gig

Have we ever fired a position coach.
Settle didn't have his contract renewed.
Seems like Stoops wasn't happy, but waited until 2 year contract ended before cutting ties.
Coordinators are more important and can't wait out.
2 million dollar raise, fired Scang and gave Coen huge raise as well.
Maybe he's not allowed to get new line coach, who maybe isn't 100% responsible for bad play and lack of talent, even though sure as shyt didn't fix it.

I do not remember Levis throwing the ball away, or hitting his outlet back, except for the last two games. I never put the 40 plus sacks wholly on Levis’s shoulders, but it is a shared responsibility of the line and QB.

The O-line was a sieve, especially against lighter-stunting D-lines. But heady QB’s can prevent a third to a half of sacks by quick decision making.

Most of those coaches have a 1 or 2 year deal. So firing them really isn't necessary.

But yes unfortunately plenty of turnover in some of these positions. We used to go through wr coaches every year which I think lead to the wr recruiting issue more than the run heavy offense. Who can blame someone for not wanting to come here to play for a revolving door coach while also getting limited touches?

Yep but imo far worse was his lack of stepping up in the pocket. The protection is based on the QB stepping up and many times the OT was correctly pushing the rusher upfield just to find Levis still standing there resulting in a sack.

OL had their issues for sure especially with twists. Still not sure wth anyone was doing trying to follow the twist rather than pass it off but it took us at least 4 games to pick it up even semi regularly. Frustrating.

Imo people are about to be blown away with this offense. There will still be sacks and bad decisions etc but they won't be the norm. Ball will be out on time and we won't see nearly the blitzes we saw with Levis under center.

You mentioned a few reasons why he "learned" to not step up into the pocket!

Counter intuitive as it might seem, stepping up is built into the protection and greatly helps in avoiding hits/sacks. Levis took so many unnecessary hits it was painful to watch, nevermind the impact it had on our offense.

QB is part of pass pro too especially in blitz situations. Levis was awful at blitz recognition. We constantly saw blitzes because he could never make a team pay. This coming season will be the complete opposite and it will make everything look so much better
