Way out Newtown Pike?Another one comes to mind… the New Orleans House. I remember it as being a place where you could get great seafood.
Interesting… I didn’t recall it being anywhere else but Griffin Gate. The original New Orleans House was in South Park. Where Best Buy is now. They had Movie Theaters there at the time also. I remember thinking how rich people must be to be able to afford a $29 buffet.
K-Lair Grill
Ooof! Yeah, I have memories of K-Lair… but I hardly would say it was a favorite place to eat. 😂K-Lair Grill

I remember the theater being at South Park. Used to get dropped off there and left at the movies for hours as a kid. Different times back then.
All the "hoods" seem to hang out at the pay phones at Fayette Mall.Yeah I remember my folks dropping me off at Fayette Mall on Fridays and Saturdays because the Movie Theaters and Aladdin's Castle was open until Midnight. Circa 1984 or so. I couldn't imagine doing that with kids now.
Sitting here with my dad now. He didn't remember New Orleans House being in South Park either. Dad was a Counselor and Assistant Principal at Southern Junior for years and we lived near Shillito Park so if he didn't remember it I'm thinking maybe I'm crazy 😅.
Google search found this on kentucky.com. some other interesting info about other defunct restaurants.
The New Orleans House was open for a decade in the rear of South Park shopping center on Nicholasville Road before it moved to Griffin Gate Plaza in 1989. The bountiful seafood buffet restaurant was replaced in 1999 by Happy Dragon Chinese.

Great placeMax & Erma's on Richmond Rd.
As a kid, that ice cream sundae "bar" was fire.
All the "hoods" seem to hang out at the pay phones at Fayette Mall.
I'll be honest there were only 2 places that creeped me out at FM:Yeah I was there in my Blue Jean Jacket and Beeper just waiting for the action to happen 😅
Nagasaki Inn
Atomic Cafe
Porta Fino
Furlongs
I'll be honest there were only 2 places that creeped me out at FM:
1. The restroom hallway
2. Deep in the back of Spencer Gifts
I mean you can feel it getting weirder and weirder the further back you go. Those purple "hairy" looking lights that looked like porcupines and that ominous black lighting over the poster flip-racksMan you're giving me PTSD haha.
Those posters in the back of Spencer's really attracted a certain type.. and the entire place smelt like Fart Spray.
Attended UK during the same time period. Probably El Toritos in an outparcel at Fayette Mall. Part of the college age Mon-Thr summer rotation of hot spots at that time.A Mexican restaurant, similar to Chi Chi's, I can't remember the name but it was wildly popular with the college crowd.
Clown, wouldn’t be surprised if you and I crossed paths back in the day. Similar age and in general heathenry.Same fate as The Brass Ass on Richmond Rd.
Jerry's Breakfast buffet at 1:00 AM LOL
There is still one Jerry's restaurant left, in Paris, KY
Spent a lot of time at K Lair, my dorm room in Haggin overlooked it. Had their biscuits and gravy all the time!!K-Lair Grill
IIRC, ditto with LexitaliaSame fate as The Brass Ass on Richmond Rd.
You could order a pitcher of LIT's at the bar, and buy an 8-ball in the bathroom. 🤣
Nah Buff closed it down back in the early to mid 2000’s. Was always a fun lunch spot, you could see all the old guys betting horses get pissed off when a trainer would throw a race.Is Buffalo and Dad's still open?
I used to do a man o war pub crawl or atleast try to stay close to it and start on versailles and make way to hamburg. Sometimes we wouldn't make it further than the grapevine.Spuds used to have two for one well drinks for Happy Hour. It got so bad that when they saw me come in, two Greyhounds were waiting for me at the bar. LOL
I was skateboarding on that Hobie, in Jeff Gibson's empty pool over in Stonewall, and I caught hanger on the edge, and my upper teeth braces were driven THROUGH my upper lip. My Dad had to use needle nose pliers to free it. And then, he poured every kid's worst nightmare, Merthiolate on my mouth. I had a pink goatee for 2 weeks. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Good. Loved that place. Great pizza in little squares and they delivered at seemingly any midnight hour. This is not long gone....still there, and doing well.
Always liked to sit in the bus at DarrylsTheir garbage burger is still my choice as the best burger I’ve ever had. The phones were kind of weird, always thought it was for pervs.
I’ll add the Darryl’s on Nicholasville. It was a great place to take a date as a teen.
There was a Duffs in Eastland Shopping ctrI can't remember if they had one in Lex but when I played for the Man-O-War baseball club (16-18 yo) the coach would always TREAT us to dinner at Duff's smorgasbord after a road game. It was similar to the Blue Boar. We complained but we shoveled that stuff down though.
And didn't the Blue Boar have fish tanks lined up along the wall where you stood in line? I may be thinking of some other place. Aah, dinner at the Blue Boar then cruise through Thornberry's toys and the Grants department store...
