"Few folks have hit me to ask about last nights game. Here they are:

1) Absolutely LOVE the vulnerability of MP’s post game pressers. This is MAGICAL: “If I could have run it back, I would have taken more risks defensively. Maybe have gone zone.” because it’s uncalculated and
raw. The level of insight you get win or lose is a Basketball Fans DREAM.

2) It was a NO WIN for MP and UK. The build up to the game had nothing to do w/ Basketball. The Guys were in the cross hairs of something they played no roll in. Cal KNEW what to expect and had his Guys prepared for it and they responded. Kudos to Arkansas for a HELL of an effort. Yesterday was a distraction. To all the “they get paid” guys, it’s not that simple @ 19 or 20. Emotions were high for something they probably didn’t understand. They do now and they’ll be better as a a result of it.

3) What team in America has responded after losses, being bullied, criticized, etc better than UK? No One. Steep Learning Curve but Learning NEVER THE LESS.

4) Pinch me. I watched UK vs Arkansas w/ 2 All Americans and the Duke Staff in Durham after watching Duke vs UNC in person @ Cameron. Life’s Good. Can’t wait to the Ole Miss Game on Tuesday 🫡"

Without your only 2 point guards, there are definitely going to be struggles on offense.

I just can’t believe how bad we are on defense. We need a defensive specialist on the staff and some quicker players.

Love Ansley and Koby, but they are terrible on defense. Even Williams who is supposed to be a next level defender is just a space eater. He provides very little in rim protection and hs to be inspired to rebound to his size.

All three freshmen are terrible on D.

The only part I didn't care for last night regarding the gameplan-didn't look like the former Kentucky players were scouted at all. It didn't bother me giving up a 3 to Adou--let him prove he can do that all night. Z? Make that guy do anything but shoot 3's on catch and release. DJ is better going to his left than right and if he has a career 3pt night-go ahead and tip the cap. Each guy was allowed to do what they do well and tells me you didn't scout them properly or your players ignored the scout. Either way it's an issue that needs to be fixed.

As for importance of the game-every game matters. This sucked for UK fans who wanted blood. Cats had no counter when they threw some haymakers early and Arkansas was responding with them. My take was watching the past couple of years, this was the unexpected Cal win that had you thinking "Maybe we can...." and then you'll have a stretch where you get punked by 2 teams who suck and then lose big that gives up hope--only to win 1/2 more that have you right back at last night.

I believe he will surprise a lot of people. May not be ranked as high, but at the end IMO could very well outplay those ranked above him!

Have to love that kind of attitude. That is what we need here at Kentucky. So happy to have him and his son to suit up next year ! I think he is really going to be a good one !

Agree except for Noah as I think Noah is deeent on D for an undersized freshman. Also, Chandler is very good on D as he’s the only fast guy we have to chase other teams’ shooters.
The team as a whole, though, is not even average on D. I think almost all of us can agree with that.

To me he sounded very loss, too much stuttering, not finish his first thought and it was painful to listen to him.

Agree on Noah and Chandler.
Chandler got his minutes because of his D. Unfortunately, he’s not ready yet on the offensive end.

Perry not ready defensively but ok offensively. Basically needs to get more comfortable with the speed of the game.

Cal got to play the " underdog/ no respect " card all week and last night.

Some players respond really well to that old song and dance routine of playing the victim.

Cal is really good at head games and he had his players sky high to "SHOW EVERYONE YOU DESERVE RESPECT", especially the ex-UK players.

If I were an Arkansas fan, last night's game would make me scratch my head even more on Cal's coaching of talent ( which they obviously have plenty of)so why were we 1-6 coming into the UK game if we (Arkansas) are really that good??

I actually wish the game this year had been at Arkansas. This was just a teso. Too much pressure, guys that were here last year playing with a chip on their shoulder. Idiots booing them and Cal to only add fuel to the fire.
