Anybody else hear that interview with the Pardon my Take guys?

Matt Jones texted some of his regular callers, including Harvey and asked them to call in (for selfish reasons obviously) and it backfired.

Harvey did call in and the segment was awful, but the last question was about how he thought the football team would do. He said he thought we weren’t gonna be nearly as good as last season because we’ve lost all our older leaders and the young guys didn’t have anyone to look up to (probably thinking about the C Rod stuff etc.).

Well they already had Levis lined up as an interview shortly after Harvey (he’s a fan of the pardon my take guys) and he heard the comments and seemed to take offense to it. Talked about all the negative fans being motivation and that he would absolutely be a leader in the locker room. Great job @MattJonesKSR giving fans a good name. Hopefully it will at least give them some motivation.

Harvey is just a random 85 year old dude who is all into spirits and herbs and natural things etc. and Jones wanted him to call in because he thought it would be radio gold talking to the guest hosts today. Most fans I’ve heard are very positive about next season, just thought it wasn’t a great look that our starting QB happened to be listening to some old weirdo talking about how we aren’t gonna be any good.

Harvey is a conundrum. He's a bit of a hippy with his spirituality, use of herbal remedies and time spent with Native Americans, but he's more than occasionally an asshole and even threatens violence on occasion.

If you think Matt is out to give UK fans a good name then you haven't been following along. He takes every opportunity to point out the bad fans and their stupid actions/comments thus making all fans look bad in return. You know that whole guilty by association thing.

It was beyond ridiculous to allow Harvey to say those things while Will Levis was on hold. The old man is a flake to begin with, then he disrespects a future 1st round NFL QB while he is waiting to be interviewed so he hears all of it. Will has shown himself to be one of the BEST leaders the football team has ever had.

Matt bringing those dudes in to do the show just backfired. I'm PISSED that Will Levis was treated poorly!!!

I doubt Harvey even really pays attention to UK Football and who knows how much in all actuality the basketball team. I usually enjoy his calls and that old Billy from Hopkinsville who told the story about twisting one up and burning it down with Jamal Magloire & Henry Clay 😆 before UK vs UofL. Won't be listening the rest of the week, guest hosts are boring unless it's Marrow & the UK Football coaches. The Pardon My Take guys schtick got old the 1st time.

My biggest issue with Matt Jones is I think he talks down on Kentucky and Kentuckians. This is related to my post just above, but I’ve never liked him for that reason. I’ve always thought he didn’t respect the state and it’s residents. He thinks he’s better than everyone.

I was thinking Hooker, Richardson and Rattler as potential candidates. Hopes are high for Richardson down there and they think he fits Napier’s scheme. Rattler has had ups and downs but he’s certainly talented and sometime change of scenery can fix a lot. Not arguing against Levis 1v1 against any of them but certainly possibilities.

If Will was really offended or upset even at all (he likely wasn’t), the PMT guys smoothed it over by saying Harvey means well but it’s probably hard for guys like him because there’s so much turnover every year & transitioned nicely from there.

Most of their satire was about coach Cal (or Sal, or Call, or Calpiperi as they called him), but they were actually very nice to Will & all the guests/callers. They could have easily made fun of them but they didn’t (I mean hillbillies like me are about the only ones you can make fun of in this country anymore & not be canceled). I would have been annoyed if they made fun of them, honestly. They treated Harvey’s, Edie’s, & KY Joe’s call like serious interviews…(that was their whole bit- slightly patronizing maybe but not disrespectful or rude).

It’s just meant to be fun. Will knows this & knows them (he’s a huge fan & he’s been on their show) & he joined in on their satire. Whether he knows Harvey or not he listened to him talk about auras, the spirit world, listening to & communicating with plants (who are all his friends) & animals, etc. so he surely doesn’t take Harvey too seriously.

I just listened to the podcast and Harvey said Matt told him to call in to talk to the PMT guys. I don't think he was trying to control the podcast. He just knew that they would enjoy talking to him because he's a character and they even said they wanted to talk to him.

I don't watch nor care about pmt, but it really fkn sucks that Levis said that on a national broadcast about any of our fans. It's not that he's wrong, it's just that it doesn't help recruiting or national perception.

I think you could make the case for basketball at this point too since their main source seemed to be Justus. Goes to show how important sources are to the whole thing. MJ having a relationship Marrow makes him one of the most reliable on football news front. And he's good at providing basketball analysis, but no sources on this basketball staff. His twitter feed is mostly retweets of Kyle Tucker basketball stories, or breaking football news himself.
