I thought it would be interesting to look at baylor performance before and after the covid year where they won the title.

2013 Losses 14 post season: NIT
2014 losses 12 post season: sweet 16
2015 losses 10 post season: 1st round exit
2016 losses 12 post season: 1st round exit
2017 losses 8 post season: sweet 16
2018 losses 15 post season: NIT
2019 losses 14 post season: 2nd round exit
2020 covid canceled
2021 losses 2 post season: national champion
2022 losses 11 post season: 2nd round exit
2023 losses 11 post season: 2nd round exit
2024 losses 11 post season: 2nd round exit

A vast improvement over Cal since 2019.... NIL/Portal era. Thanks for confirming.

2020 you left out he was 26-4 before Covid canceled postseason. 2022, Baylor went 27-7. Not sure how you counted 11 losses that season.
2013 you put NIT but failed to put NIT champions, I know that’s not an accomplishment, but it says a lot about your agenda. You included 12 years. Not 10. So let’s do 15.
2012- 30-8 elite 8
2011- 18-13 missed tournament
2010- 28-8 Elite 8

People are definitely talking themselves into this. I'm not sold. Tony Bennett won a title. Are we hiring him? I get it's Baylor but there are so many early tournament losses on that resume. I'm also not sold he has the temperament for this job.

But if he's hired I'll support him and hope for the best.

Not great but it was at Baylor.

Also isn't Drew who we played I'm 2012 EE?
"But it's at Baylor" is an excuse for the early year struggles when he didn't always have the best/most talented rosters. It's not an excuse for GETTING good talented rosters, getting good seeds in the tournament, then getting upset early.

Yes. They were really good that year and they possibly could have won the championship that year if it weren't for Kentucky.
LOL that team wasn't winning a title. They were thrilled to get to the Elite 8 then got boat raced by UK

Why did you leave his losses number out for 2020 when you included it for the other nine years? The regular season was not cancelled.

Baylor went 26-4 that season and was considered one of the favorites to win it all if the tourney had been played. I think that’s also worth mentioning.

Literally every coach in America has had significant first weekend issues if you look at them over 10 years, with the exception of Sampson and Few.

Well, most programs are thrilled to get to the Elite 8. Some even hang banners for that. It was a big deal for Baylor then. Kentucky has higher standards sure, but it’s better than what we’ve been getting lately. He’s not my first choice either but I will get behind whoever they get. Hurley is probably short term and then to the pros and Donovan has been away from college so long he may not be what he once was. After Drew nobody thrills me except Pearl and I would be surprised if Barnfart considers him.
