They need UK more than UK needs them. I hope Cal gets the ones he wants but these recruits are not going to be as NBA ready going to another school. They will lose millions of dollars going to another school. Cal and UK gets his kids more NBA ready better than any coach and college in America.
When one recruit passes on UK then the next kid in line sees a pot of gold waiting for them.

You couldn't be more wrong, and it's a stupid attitude that Cal himself would strongly disagree with.

Cal does a great job with the players he recruits, and you can certainly make a strong case that he's better than anyone at preparing players for the NBA in one year, but the number of guys with the talent to make that leap is very, very limited. And without those type of players, the odds of UK going to 4 FF's in 6 year, winning 38 games in a row, and all the other gaudy stuff that's happened this decade, drop precipitously.

UK is certainly in a position of strength right now, as there are almost always good back-up options for whoever the priority recruits seem to be, but the "disposable player" attitude is extremely shortsighted, and reeks of entitlement.

Recruiting happens in cycles, it seems like. Years ago (early 2000's) everyone was going to Duke and then they cooled off but still got a few McD's but ranked in 20's to 30's. Then Cal took over and hasn't been stopped since he got here. But we are still getting plenty of 5 star and McD's just not always are #1 choice.

What school has as many as Cal players making millions. The no1 player in country last year was suppose to be a no-brainer for the no1 player taken in NBA draft. He even was on the team that won the ncaa tournament but guess whose player was the no 1 pick in the draft. You guessed it, a player from UK's team developed by Cal and can you count how many no 1 NBA draft picks he has had? He takes two recruits that was not predicted to be a 1 and done and they become lottery picks in one year, explain that. He takes a recruit that was a project and 3yrs later he is a lottery pick even tho he sat out a yr. because of freak injury, explain that. Like every coach Cal has his moments but no coach will develop a recruit for the NBA as good as Cal.
