Let's never talk about opposing fan bases again

If I ever have a bad day, or maybe a bad week or month. I can always remember how childish and immature some of my fellow Kentucky fans are. I can always know that at least I'm not the biggest moron out there.

It has never crossed my mind to mess with a basketball officials personal life. Or even worse, threaten to kill him.

Anyone that has done either of these things is a loser in every sense of the word.

We've had lots of tough losses in the last several years and a number of questionable calls. This is the first time I can remember stories about death threats from UK fans to officials.

Says a lot about the scale of the Sunday screw job.

He makes a pretty good living officiating. And he went to John Calipari's place of business and shit on him. He obviously has an issue with Cal that he took out on kids playing a game and passionate fans....the wrong passionate fans he soon found out. His skid of games where he hosed Cal just finally caught up to him.

Its ok to be upset with the guy but giving bad reviews to his business. The way he makes a living is atrocious. I don't even want to comment on the death threats if true because that's downright embarrassing.
then why bring it up? I have not seen one... just rumors; that get propagated

Look our players, staff, and fans wait all year for this. It's not the Super Bowl, World Series, CFB Championship. Around here, it's March Madness.

And this turd single handedly put his and the NCAA agenda on display and ruined it. He screwed so many people's year up - now he gets to pay the piper.

Death threats are completely wrong and need to stop. Everything else is his own fault.

People have to learn to take the responsibility and consequences to their actions.

Death threats and calling the guy cross the line for sure imo but everything else is fair game.
I don't really see where calling him and voicing concerns and opinions is a big deal. Death Threats are slightly pushing the envelope. I don't see why someone couldn't have pulled a Nancy Kerrigan to one of his knee's before the game. Sure there would be some slight pain involved for him, but his business reputation wouldn't have been tarnished and there would be no "kneed" (pun intended) for death threats.

I'm so glad you alerted us to this. Not like we have 500 posts about it.

But....bbbbuttt.....the OP is the voice of reason, and his insight is the one that will get through to everyone this time! And when it does, all rival fanbases will speak kindly of one another, the clouds will part open, rays of sunshine will burst through, and rainbow farting unicorns will roam wistfully on the countryside!!

Other fanbases hated us before this, they'll hate us afterwards, and they'd hate us if we were to magically wave a wand and make amends for whatever percieved wrongs our fans have committed over the years. With this reality in mind......I think I'll prolly go ahead talk badly about other fanbases if the inclination arises.

I would love to see me some rainbow farting unicorns, though.....guess I'll have to wait patiently until the libs deliver on their promise of socialized utopia.

The OP shines like a fragrant, holy meadow. Thank you for your patronage, dear sir. You have dispelled the darkness with your radiant light. We heathens, still stuck mentally in the Neolithic period of our hollow souls, needed a touch of your benevolence.

Maybe so, and I don't condone death threats either, but none of this is uncommon. Seth Greenberg tweeted this very sentiment today; refs get blow back and death threats quite often after big games. Now, would I rather our fan base refrain from that level of intensity? Yes. But, does this idiot deserve most of what he's getting, besides the death threats? Yes, I think he does. He's crooked, and it isn't even subtle.

If Higgins received just one death threat, that's one too many.

Having said that, even if he received 20 - which I doubt - it's wrong and embarrassing. However, it's a drop in the bucket when you consider just how many UK fans there are. For anyone to paint the entire fanbase for the actions of a few morons is ridiculous as well.

Every time someone tries to post a reasonable comment about our fans actions to Higgins over the past 2 days, they get absolutely lambasted. I love it.

Hey OP, who made you judge, jury and executioner. Higgins should have considered the consequences before he chose to go out and rob the U.K. players the opportunity and memories of a lifetime of playing in The Final Four. Bam, Briscoe, Fox, Monk, Humphries, Willis or others could very well have had one or two games of a life time, increasing their NBA draft stock immesureably and making each millions of more in the basketball careers. Now we will never know beause Higgins took that chance away from them.
I do not to hear you or one more poster like you tell me how this might negatively affect Higgins business. He bought this on himself.

It's wrong to threaten/wish death or harm on someone, no matter how bad they are at their job.

It's also wrong to blame the reactionary actions of a few that took it too far on the entire fanbase, and act as though we should all be embarrassed by it and as though it's a reflection on all of us. No, that's on them, not any of us who didn't partake in those activities. Just like the illegal activities of their athletic departments shouldn't be viewed as a reflection on all UNC or UofL fans.

Agree completely. Sometimes it's satisfying just to sit on the porch and watch.

As he is a loser for messing with the lives of the coaching staff and the players.
