Cal Sucks!!
To be honest, Butler, Carr and Kerr all need to sit and heal completely. Problem being, if we sit them we could end up missing the tournament. If you look at our remaining schedule that is reality. Its time for the bench to step up. While we were scoring lots of points and beating lessor teams we failed to bring our bench along on the ride. Its sad but its about to get real.

We already have enough good wins to make the tourney. We will win plenty of games. I don’t know where this missing the tournament stuff comes from. We just need Carr to get healthy. Not having Kriisa is killing us but we have to roll with who we have.

I will explain missing the tournament to you. The schedule shows 7-8 more losses are possible. We could lose both to UT, again to Ala. and Auburn at Ole miss at Texas and Oklahoma and Mizzou. The SEC games left are all gonna be wars and our key players are banged up. It is sad to think about but we are between the rock and a hard place.

I’ll be surprised to see Kerr be a contributor again this season. It’s troubling that we had a bye week to rest and heal but we were seemingly in worse shape health wise than last Saturday. By bench I assume you’re meaning Brea, and I agree . He’s been MIA in all but one sec game . I believe Almonor HAS stepped up. The rest just aren’t ready for big time basketball at this point.

We are a projected 3 seed right now. Just saw it last night, and that’s Lunardi. Kerr being out is killing us, you’re right.

While missing the tournament is highly unlikely, I would not call impossible.

We currently sit at 10th in the SEC. Hopefully our final record is at least 22-11. But if it is instead 20-13 or worse, and we lose in the first round of the SEC tourney, with tons of losses in the back half of the season - who knows if we’ll make it.

With your stellar ooc wins 7-11 in conference should easily get in, so 7 more losses. There's almost no chance you lose all 8 of those. You'll be favorites home to TN and tossups in several others. Effectively you're playing for seeding.

You’re right. Our fanbase is crazy. Yes, we are gonna lose more games. Every team in the SEC will lose several more games, except maybe Auburn. They’re the luckiest team I’ve seen all year. Have a feeling their luck will run out later in SEC and then in NCAAT. Anyway, yes, UK is playing for seeding.

19 wins gets Kentucky into the tourney

19-12 regular season with a win at the SEC tourney and they are in.

I agree, it is a problem, to have a shot at the NCAA tournament, but to have a shot in the NCAA tournament they need to be healthy. I thought Carr was missed big time against Vandy.

In the last few years I've heard that the committee barely bothers to change seedings or at-large selections based on the conference tournaments. I haven't been able to confirm that though. Any truth to it?

(To be fair, some of this impression came from fans our fans lamenting the exclusion of the 2023 Vanderbilt team, IMO not deserving of an at-large anyway, who stopped sleepwalking late in the season and got to the SEC semis.)

Butler did not seem to be hampered by anything yesterday except for the fact that Edwards was much quicker and, playing harder. Edwards, at least for this game, was just a much better player.

I mean we literally brought Perry along in the most perfect way possible. Pope kept giving him the maximum possible minutes his nerves could handle when he was completely overwhelmed and screwing up. Pope kept doing that until TP started to bloom and then he leveraged that to its best advantage generally. Imo used him too much in the Alabama game but other than that he walked the line of using a talented and overwhelmed freshman and he did it with breathtaking grace and intuition.

And I'm supposed to believe that that same coach "failed to bring our bench along on the ride"? Even though (more) Chandler and (less) Noah kept making appearances too and just like TP, if anything those guys seemed to come out too late more than too early whenever he tried them.

To each his own but for me it's a very hard pass on this notion that we failed to bring our bench along on the ride or that it's sad. It is indeed about to get real and we are indeed dealing with injuries. But we all know that and it just doesn't support your conclusion.

Noah is our best bench player for the future because he has shown he can come in cold and make a shot along with his energy and toughness.
The contrast of Perry vs the Vandy freshman PG was startling yesterday and Perry was the higher ranked player out of HS.
Chandler honestly should never see the court the rest of the season unless he goes in with Horn to finish out a game well in hand.
He cannot provide ball handling, shooting, or defense at this point.
He is a player without a role/ position and it shows when he's on the court as he's totally lost and playing without purpose.
Pope will have some hard decisions to make in the off season as not only to assembling a starting line up for next season but a bench also.

Good GOD !

Even if we were to lose 8 more like that, as you say is possible, we would STILL get into the NCAAT based on what we have ALREADY DONE. It just isn't going to happen. Even if it were to play out like that, it's still HIGHLY probable (somewhere north of at least 90% I'd say) we will make the tournament regardless of even THAT scenario.

Just heal up, take from it the lessons we need to, there's plenty of time to get things back on track, I am certainly not surprised seeing how great the league is this year, that we've lost 2, possibly even 3 in a row.

CCC lost twice consecutively , 3 in a row AT HOME. JUST LAST YEAR ... would you rather us go back to THAT?

Jesus people. I swear. This board truly makes me laugh.

God Bless all of you that know better than to give up and have a defeatist attitude to go thru life with. Being a cancer survivor with a broken back which should have ended my life from that fall, as it has so many other people ...., and losing a DECADE of my life to health issues, surviving with a positive attitude has been the best tonic I could have ever given myself.

Some of you REALLY need that gift right about now, apparently.

Back off from the ledge, trust in Coach Pope, and keep the faith.

Go Big Blue !

Pope must have a very short list of high school players he’s after because I haven’t seen UK on many lists. Portal players it is but this time let’s make sure there is no lingering injuries. Carr, Brea and Williams all had injuries last season that caused them to miss multiple games. No more high school kids that can’t contribute instead go get portal players

I definitely would not be comfortable on selection Sunday if we finish 9th or lower in the SEC. The field is selected by a group of people whose syllabus changes every year. Not only does it change, but no one even knows the syllabus until after the selections are made.

Win the games and remove yourself from any discussion. That’s the only surefire way to make selection Sunday stress free. There’s just too many variables to leave it in someone else’s judgment.
