Let's be honest ... the SEC was over-rated this year !!

Out of the fourteen (14) teams in the NCAAT, only four (4) can make it to the Championship Game.
I can’t tell if you’re joking. This is satire? Your rationale for why a conference is weak is that it consists of four legitimate national title contenders??

I think we need to see how the E8 shakes out before we make statements like that. I think 14 teams is kinda crazy but I'm not sure who else was more deserving.

That makes it overated? This is dumb as hell

I don't know if it was. When you have this many teams in the tournament, you're going to get some losses.

I think what we did learn is that there are various styles of play that almost permeate across given conferences.. and the SEC's "Let's beat the crap out of you" while also making Kentucky their Superbowl, wasn't necessarily going to translate to tournament success 100% of the time.

We all knew this was going to come (not the OP's satire but the losses by the goblin teams who really aren't that good) and the bigger issue is Sankey/Tranghese vision of letting these slapdick teams hack and foul their way to home wins and then when they play anywhere outside of their home games-they crap the bed. There's no way UGA was an NCAA team. Mike White is a goober. His team played like him yesterday against the worst Gonzaga team in last 20 yrs. Rodney Terry is going to be likely/correctly fired but at least his team competed in a road game which UNC should've been playing IMO-but we knew that wasn't going to happen.

Sankey got to bring this back to the Conference after the AD's were on his ass for how he got screwed over in the CFB Playoff Selection for the Playoff and even in getting his 14 teams in---a "record" he got punked in how they selected UNC to the Tournament--which was the polar opposite of how they selected the teams in the Playoff format for football. Playing tough teams mattered for CBB but not FB where it was "wins/record". His TV contract is substandard for the product he's selling and seeing ESPN pimp ACC teams over the "Flagship" for the network during FB was disgusting. Their response? Overhyping bad teams to make the NCAA Field. Now they'll flame out-I have 0 faith in Vanderbilt. Oklahoma, Ole Miss, or Mississippi State today.

For his sake-he needs UF, Aub, Bama, UK, and TN to make deep runs or this will be an even bigger trainwreck for him in the media and he can talk Baseball/Softball all he wants--nobody cares about that nationally.

There is a big drop off in the SEC from the top 4 teams. If you look at the schools that have lost already, there is a direct correlation with coaching:
Rodney Terry
Dennis Gates
Mike White
These are not SEC caliber coaches.

The teams that got beat so far are teams that won a lot of home games with some very favorable whistles. Those home whistles the SEC is known for helps get some teams in the tourney, but it does not help them when the ball is tipped.

That is why I value when the Cats go on the road and win over winning games at Rupp. Always nice to win at Rupp but true contenders go on the road and beat Tennessee, Miss State, Missouri, Oklahoma etc... those are the most valued wins on this year's resume in my opinion. Florida showed really who they were when they were down a starting guard and went to Auburn and beat the Tigers.

Do the other conferences and said drop offs. Acc it's a huge drop off after team 1.

Humor doesn’t go over too well on this board. Too many throat cutters waiting to pounce.
Well, if there wasn’t dozens of people on everything literally saying the SEC is overrated, the joke would be a little more clear. I was confused as to whether it was a joke because there are plenty of folks who are literally saying it in every thread.

I think he was joking, but Seth Davis yesterday did make a comment after Georgia got spanked that hinted at this line of thinking. Numbers don't lie. I don't know if it ended this way or not, but at some point in the second half of the season, I heard that the SEC had the highest rating for any conference ever (at that point of the season).

It's a bit too early to tell. This is March so upsets tend to happen.

I'll assess once the dust settles at the end of the tournament.

Damn good point ... I should've typed Final Four ... now edited ... thanks.
Well I actually knew what you meant and what you were trying to do, so I was just trying to counter with some humor of my own. I didn't really mean you should fix it.

Absolutely a crap conference again. Not even a football conference anymore. Only got 14 teams into the dance comfortably. Even if you took away the incredibly crappy Texas team you'd still have only had 13 from the SEC. Even though that would have been a record too, the SEC was destined to have everyone lose in the tournament this year.

Or what, were we gonna have more than one champion ?

And is it - or was it - anybody elses' title to go out there and win except .....

well .....

I won't name names. But Bubba and company sure did a fine job with such a tough task to put together this year's March Madness.....

Go Big Blue !

All cool … I understand. It really would be wild and UFB if we did see an ALL-SEC Final Four !!!

The ACC has 1 left after the first day
I don’t count cheaters

Georgia was doomed
Missouri tanked YES
Texas was a pickem

Everybody else won

I think we can make that judgment after Sunday

Mizzou hasn't been able to win outside of their gym all year long. Georgia only plays well about 50% of the time, or if the SEC needs them to make the tourney. Plus Gonzaga was criminally under seeded. Texas rides and dies with Mark. No real surprises so far.

Miss St. looks like hot garbage right now so they might go down as well.

Let's see how it plays out.....(I personally don't worry with high seed teams that go out first round...never understood why you want bubble teams to make NCAA only to watch them bow out quickly and impact your NCAA conference record).

1.. If SEC gets 2+ final fours
2. If SEC get's 3+ elite eight
3. If SEC gets 5+ sweet 16

I'd call that pretty dominate for a conference.

A case could probably be made that 14 teams was a bit too much and that There were a handful of teams out there who deserved it more than Texas and UGA and maybe Oklahoma, but The leagues OOC record was pretty dominant compared to any other league. Now I know they were only .500 in Conference play, and that raises some questions about their strength, but they were still dominant OOC.

That last part was a joke.

IMO SEC should not have gotten but 9 in as evidenced by at least 5 teams losing in the first round. Miss St losing as will Ole Miss IMO
