Let’s clear this up.

It’s so bizarre how some fans aren’t even willing to entertain the notion that Stoops isn’t all that great.

Isn’t it possible- just POSSIBLE- that our improved fortunes have a lot to do with the increased conference money and heightened perception of all teams in the SEC?

Stoops could be a better than average coach, and Kentucky could do better. It’s okay to imagine a world where both of these things may be true.
Lifetime contract talk only! Big ED said so

Dude. We will NOT be Alabama or Georgia or Ohio state in football for the same reasons Alabama, Georgia and Ohio state will NOT and what Kentucky is in basketball. Everyone wants to win. Everyone in the program is trying. Stop whining so much.

I appreciate you admitting you have no faith in this program to be great and would prefer everyone accept less than mediocre results and shut up.

If you think about it, rival fans would definitely approve of your post. But at least you’re honest. Some don’t have the guts to admit it.

1. Our AD isn’t interested in winning big. Every time you hear “Stoops has the best job in the country” you should puke. It means he can be a multi millionaire safely for mediocre results. It needs to stop.

2. We are not a football school. Every time a low level program has a few decent seasons they all say the same thing. We are not a football school or a serious program until we take our program serious. And that means we expect to win at the highest levels. we don’t pump mediocre coaches, even if Stoops is the right fit for today

3. Stoops might be a good fit for where we are in this time, but he’s not elite. Stop pretending he’s elite. To date, UK is the best job he’s been offered. That should tell you something.

Can we at least accept this as it is?
Cry much, I could have told you after watching the NIU game that this team has too many holes in the line and was not going to be as good as last years. Don't always believe the hype, just like in basketball. Wait and see how they perform in real game situations.

No, he isn’t elite. He’s good to very good. He has inherent flaws that aren’t going away. But he seems to be willing to stay.

Look this is one of those jobs where you tend get people on the way up or on the way down. If we got young blood, say Neal Brown or Lincoln Riley years ago and they have success here, he’s gone - even with a few good years, very little help to the overall health of the program. If we get an established guy, its Curry or a Les Miles type and we know how much that sets programs back.

Stoops is the one to lead us to decades of perception that we are very solid, which may attract young blood that will stay in 10 years or so. Hes not THE guy, but hopefully what he establishes will help us get and keep THE guy.

I don’t think anyone is expecting us to be on the Alabama or Georgia level but at least beat the teams you should beat. If we lose to Alabama/Georgia and end the year with 1 or 2 losses I’m okay with that at this point in time. That would not put us in the playoff but it would put us in the Sugar Bowl which is what we should be shooting for this year, but it’s too late now because we already blew it.

Some of you have meager expectations for the hundreds of millions of dollars pumped into Stoops, his faculty, and the facility upgrades over the last decade.

Yet you know I’m right.

you can still enjoy football during these times. I freaking LOVE uk football. I love it way more than basketball and I’m a huge basketball fan. What stoops has done here is incredible and we should be grateful for what we have.

No one is willing to accept mediocrity. As a matter of fact we have progressed beyond mediocre (usc game not withstanding). We have moved up several tiers in the sec. A few years ago Missouri won the east, so a program like ours can as well but if you’re expecting to step into the drivers seat in the sec and compete for national championships then you are predestined to be miserable. I suggest you recalibrate your expectations or head on back to the basketball side of things. You’ll still be miserable over there but at least you’ll have a better shot at a natty
